Well just to get you guys up to speed, got my car back from the body shop after it was keyed....great job, every bit as good as OM paint job. Went for coffee and only had part view of the car and in the time it took to have coffee someone kicked the (out of my view) front end. My question to you guys, am I the only unlucky one out there, I truly have to take a lawn chair and sit squarely infront of my car when out!!! I am rethinking the ownership of a Corvette....Just cant take the STRESS. You guys on the Corvette forum are the only ones that can relate to how we feel about our cars, let me know. Later, Rob
damn that sucksman...does sound like there is some bad luck! One thing I do to combat that is where ever I park it where I eat I always have visual of the car rarely do I park where I cat see it exceptions when I go to the store or movie then I park way away from everyone....again saorry to hear...
I have owned Corvettes for 35 years and "stress" just comes with the territory (if you care for and about the car). Nothing bad ever happens to those who don't care and if it does, they don't care anyway. Unless you can afford several backup Corvettes while the others are in the shop then you may always have stress.
I admit the list of places I cannot take the car is growing. Some places here you are guaranteed problems:
Movie theaters
Malls
Bars
Anywhere you have to parallel park
more and more Restaurants are added to my black list every year.
I rarely take my car anywhere that I cannot keep an eye on it.
Sorry for your recent bad fortune with the scum of society.
Anyone who would kick a Corvette just because they don't have one and are jealous deserves a shot in the head.
Hearing about this more and more makes me leave the Vette at home. Just not worth the worrying, unless I can keep a good eye on it.
What a shame. I wonder if this happens as much to other cars. My wife would love to have a Mercedes SL 500. I doubt those cars get vandalized as much as Corvettes.
As long as I can remember, my father has had a little window sticker on his Chevelle. Its says, "If you value your life as much as I value this car, don't f#$& with it!"
I'll have to get something similar for my Vette

I think by doing this is just an open invitation for problems. I'm a firm believer in action speaks louder than words. Catch them in the act and be ready to face the conseqences of what you will do to that person ,once you have a hold of em!
I think in the end it probably just has to do with the area you live in. I'm really not worried about mine back home in Southern Maryland, but I will worry some when I go back down to my base in North Carolina. The more dense the population is, the more chances some ******* is gonna see your car and act in an undesirable fashion

I see that as more asking someone to kick it. It's like a lot of personalized license plates out there. The cocky ones just invite people's anger.
I think most owners on here have a list of places they don't bring their vettes too. Unless they are daily drivers.
Has not happened yet but I try to always have the vette in view. I worry when I even park far away from other cars and take two spots that some punk will key it just because I went out of my way to avoid dings, etc.Punks that are jealous will always exist.
My 03 is 6 years old, 42K on it. In Louisville I have had no problems. I usually park way out, next to an island if possible, NEVER do I take 2 spots, and never next to a 2 door car.
I do not drink so no bars, but we do take it when we go out to eat. Mine is just a plain stock red 03 with no mods. I take it to Home Depot when I just need small items. But I am able to park way out at HD.
I worry more when we travel on vacation. Yes I do drive it on vacation, bugs, rain, and dirt. But I have running water at home and it cleans up really well --Rejex is the best.
Good grief man! So sorry to hear about these attacks on your vehicle. I know less than nothing about Canada, but is it that bad in your area for crime, or are you just being singled out?
Had my Vette keyed about 2 months back. Went down the whole side of the car. Had three panels re-sprayed, and it's now fine. Then 1 month later, some old blind guy crashed into the side of my M5.
I feel your pain. The vandalism stuff is just jealousy or stupidity or both.
I've never had an incident but I know a few people who have. and the crap about taking 2 spaces being a reason for someone to vandlize your car is just bull$h71. a friend of mine has had his car dented, dinged, and even coffee thrown on it once because he took up 2 spaces. he did so at the car end of the parking lot. the reason that he does this sometimes (its not a Vette by the way): he has two young children and he finds if very difficult to get them in and out of the car while parked in a single space. parking at the end of the lot usually fixes the problem all by itself, but if he has my luck he knows all about parking 300m from the nearest car and coming back out of the store to find one rusty pickup truck parked right next to you.
My question to you guys, am I the only unlucky one out there
YES you are the only one. Just trying to make you feel better I used to think it was always the mustang guys but lately I'm convinced it's the green people! I parked next to a Prius the other day and it was very apparent where the envy came from. Don't be fooled by all the save the earth and green this green that talk, they are ruthless in their pursuit to assimilate us. Just for that reason you must resist and don't give up your Corvette, scratched or not. The rest of the Corvette brethren is counting on you to do the right thing
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
