Default Garage Queens....

I have 2 Vettes. An '82 and an '03 Vert. I drive them several times a week and several thousand miles per year.

I have a buddy who has put 267 miles on his '99 Convertible in the past 3 YEARS!!!

I told him that I put 267 miles on mine YESTERDAY!!!

Are your Vettes drivers or garage queens?!!!

I put about 1000 miles on my vette each year. It gets put away before the first snowfall and doesn't come back out until the salt is off the roads (Spring). I only drive it on Sunny days. Never driven in rain. I take it to work anytime the sun is shining in Spring, Summer, Fall. Does this make it a Garage Queen?

I average about 2000 miles a year. Not quite a queen, so perhaps princess?

I keep my daily driver in the garage when I'm home. I also wash and wax it now and then.

Does that make it a garage princess???

Both Vettes stay in the Garage, the Booste averages 4k a year and almost to 13k in one year on the C6 our daily driver

I don't know, but the thread title got your attention enough to open it up!

I just dont understand a person who has a car like a C5 and then only drives it a hundred miles a year.

I don't get it. Is he afraid he's going to hurt it? Afraid of a rock chip? Afraid he's lowering the value by putting miles on it?

These are things I'm willing to get to the bottom of.

You're right. That's a good reason to like Garage Queens..... to BUY one!!!

Don't get me wrong, both of my Vettes are kept in the garage. I just don't worship them.

Mine sits in the garage and I put maybe 1500mi on it in a year. I only drive it to car club events, car shows, track events, etc. I don't drive it otherwise.

My black car has become a daily driver since I started my Corvette accessories business. But I bought a second C5 back in January - I drive it very occasionally....it's a '98 Pace Car with less than 20K. I think I've put about 1300 miles on it since the beginning of February.

Why does the idea that someone chooses to drive their car occasionally and not put a lot of miles on it offend some people so much?

I believe if you aren't hurting someone else - and you're not violating written law, then do whatever the Hell makes you happy. If buying a Corvette and then having it become garage art makes you happy - go for it. If racing it at HPDE's makes you happy, go for it.

If driving it hard and never washing it or waxing it makes you happy go for it. What does it matter to anyone else?

In the first six months after I bought my 98 Firebird Formula brand new I never drove it in the rain, but even still I managed to put over 15,000 miles on it during that time! So how is it you only are able to drive 1000 miles a year if you take it to work every time the sun is shining? I guess the sun doesn't shine much where you live?

Amen!

And, for the record, I have one of each.

Uh....................
My C5 gets out most days. 6000 miles last year. I bought it to drive it.
My C3 gets out only on nice days. Not like it's gonna melt, or anything. It just leaks BAD when it rains.

Yes, I have a Garage Queen and I am proud of it, 50th AE with 3K miles
Yes, I also have a daily driver and I am also proud of it, 09 CG coupe with 5K miles so far.

I have suits that I wear on special occasions, and living room and dining room used less frequently than the rest of my house. Should I not have them because I only use them infrequently. NO.

Daily drivers are nice, but they are certainly not "better" than garage queens.
