Default Headlamp Motor

I have an 02 vert and one of the headlamp motors continues to spin after the headlamp door has closed. It opens fine, only when closing does it make a loud grinding noise for about 5-7 seconds.

Has anyone had a similiar issue? Do I need to replace the motor or is there a gear or something I can replace?

Thanks-

You probably need to replace the nylon gear. There is a supplier that makes a brass gear kit. I will return if I find a link...

Look on the Electrical tab.

Classic symptoms

The easy option but $$$ option is to replace the headlight motor thats making the noise but of course you end up with a new nylon gear in there which may fail again.

By far the best is to go with rodney dickmans kit which texhawko pointed you at. Its fiddly but you end up with a much better solution.

Take a look at Leaftye's sticky at the top. Run down to headlamp motors and you'll find some info and pictures.
