Default Active handling prompt

Quick question, last night after an hour park, outside temp. about 80 deg. I get in the Vette and the DIC after a min. of driving promps me "Active handling system warming up". Then in a min. it prompts me again, "Active handling system warmed up". What exactly is warming up on a hot night and what is it going to cost to fix? I have never had this before. Pls fill me in. Greetings Rob

From the 2002 Owners Manual:

ACT HNDLG - WARMING UP: When you first
start your vehicle (especially during cold winter weather),
and begin to drive away (up to 6 mph (10 km/h)), the
message ACT HNDLG - WARMING UP may be
displayed in the DIC, the instrument panel cluster light
will be on, and a chime will sound. This is normal.
You can acknowledge this message by pressing the
RESET button. The Active Handling System
performance is affected until the next message
WARM UP COMPLETE is displayed in the DIC.
During hot or cold temperature conditions, this message
may be displayed in the DIC after exceeding 12 mph
(20 kph) for 30 seconds. The Active Handling System
is off until the WARM UP COMPLETE message
is displayed.

WARM UP COMPLETE: If you receive this message
and hear a chime, the system has completed the
functional check of the Active Handling System.

It's a completely normal, but not frequent message. Supposedly, if you have turned your wheels during the first few seconds of operation, it can cause this message. As soon as the system figures out what's straight and initializes itself, you get the WARM UP COMPLETE message. I have no documentation to back this up. Just something posted here once.

As fdxpilot says its perfectly normal. I've seen it a few times over the years but its rare. One of the mysteries of the Corvette I guess as there never seems to be any common factor that brings it on and its not outside air temperature in my case.

Your IAT sensor might be going out. I got this message every start up until I changed mine out. Seeing as how the owners manual says hot or cold weather and if i remember right you said it was 80 or so out it shouldnt have happened unless your IAT is reading abnormally. Its a 5 minute fix and Gene Cully can get you the part. Do a search on IAT sensors and you will get al the information you need

The car is OK. Nothing to worry about with those messages.
