Default X Pipe

Can I just install an X pipe on my stock exhaust and have any gains? I can see that the Flowmaster looks like a true X pipe. Any better that the one I see at Mid America?

Your not really going to gain any hp from a x-pipe. You might gain 1 or 2 but nothing major. A muffler swap is just for sound also. You need LT headers to see a real hp change, and of course a good tune helps.

So unless I am just looking for a sound change (which would be OK) then I could put an X pipe with it, but for HP, I would need the headers as well? I guess the best money spent then is just a tune. Does that sound right?

If you leave your car stock then you can get a good tune and you will gain some hp but if you do plan on modifying it then personally I wouldnt waste the money on a tune right now.

This is good advice.

You won't get any gains from the X-pipe, other than a smoother exhaust flow. But at least on mine it did make the exhaust note a bit deeper and cured the popping/resonance that I was having.

I would recommend a Bassani x-pipe - it's a high quality product.

Not necessarily so!! Granted, you are not going to get a real seat of the pants kick,,but you will gain more than sound. Patches (I think it was him) posted a pic of opened up stock mufflers,,and they are really congested!!! A good free flowing system with an X-pipe will actually give you a few ponies!!A good tune with that would give you enough to possibly even feel a little. Granted Sound is the major selling point,,but losing those factory a$$ plugs do help a bit!!

Ok then show me proof of an aftermarket muffler on a C5 with the stock H-pipe and manifolds making more hp than the stock muffler. Ive seen the insides of a stock muffler and aftermarket mufflers before. I have yet to see an aftermarket muffler, exluding the SLP Loudmouth since it is straight pipes or anything else that is straight pipes, make any hp.

At first I put Bassani X-pipe and Z06 TI's, I liked the sound, but then turned around (3 months) and did the whole LG LT Street package, should have done that from the start, but hey, you gotta do what your wallet allows . I ended up selling the X-pipe.

I doubt if you will hear or feel one bit of difference with an X pipe on an entirely stock exhaust.

Does this mean that I CANNOT add LT headers to my existing Bassani x-pipe and Corsa Pace Car rear exhaust?

I really love the sound that the Bassani x-pipe gives me....a sweet gurgling kind of music, especially noticeable on deceleration when off throttle!

Of course you could add LT's to what you already have, no problem that I know of. Anyone ? It's just that I decided to get the whole package from LG, headers, cats, x-pipe, and hook it up to my TI's.

Sorry you really are incorrect. You will for sure hear a huge difference. It will be quieter. You probably wont feel a bit of difference but it did improve my track times.
