I have been looking at C5 Z06's and C6's with higher miles. I ran across this car on ebay, what type of value would this car hold with the rebuilt title? Is a rebuilt title different than a salvage? or does it have the same stigma?
One more question, C5 Z06 vs base C6 performance, am I correct in saying they are very close to equal?
I think that is a fair price for the mileage if the car checks out but looking at the pictures there seems to be a lot of rust on the gas pedal arm and under the dash, so this could be a sign of water damage. Since this is a 01 I think this is a 385HP car instead of the 405 that you would see on the 02-04 cars. So performance wise it may be a little less than the C6.
Well the good thing is that he has pictures of why it has a rebuilt title, but I would check on how the title transfer will work for your state. The thing is, people have found z06's with a bit higher mileage for the same price with clean titles. Rebuilt title vehicles are typically worth at least 25% less from what I've read online, and can be hard to sell. If you plan on keeping it for a long time then it's not an issue. Personally, I would want to check out a vehicle in person before buying it. Performance should be the same due to shorter gearing, and handling better on the z06.
make sure when you bid, that you actually think about and put in your max price, otherwise someone will outbid you in the last 30 seconds of the auction. When you do your bid, I would do it in the last 30 seconds as well, that way it doesn't give the previous high bidder time to think about if they really want to raise their max bid. The downside is that it's quite a let down when you do it, and your max bid is lower than the other guys, and they still win it.
I smell fish. Don't like the sellers feedback.... Also, he's owned the car for 7 years and the damage happened before he owned the car(over 8 years)? So that makes the 01 Z brand spankin' new when it had the incident with a shrub.. What insurance company scraps a brand new Z with only the damage pictured??? Jeeze...bumper cover, head lamp assy/door, paint about 3-4k and you're finished.
Sell it however you wish, a rebuilt title is NOT a clean title. It's no different than a salvage title in my state.
Also, 9 year old cars with 22k miles on them usually don't have filthy rugs under the floor mats. Just my opinion, I could be wrong!!
