Default Run flats for runflats

I always said that when I needed to buy tires, it would be non runflats for me. I thought I would put a repair kit and compressor in my trunk and be on my merry way. A friend of mine told me that Michelin run flats were on the Cadillac CTSV. I thought, that Cadillac was concerned about a nice ride and quietness. I bought the Michelin run-flats, and they are WONDERFUL!!!!!! I can now hear my radio at highway speed, have lost about 80% of bump steer, they are real sticky in the corners, an all around great tire. I got all four for $1000.00 out the door, at Discount Tire. They jacked my car with four floor jacks with two men on each side at the same time. Before they jacked, they opened the hood, trunk and both doors, in case there was body flex. They cleaned ( with a rotary wire brush) the wheel mounting surfaces, as well as the back of the wheels. They were "road force" balanced and torqued to 100 ft/lbs. They did it the way I would have. I am totally satisfied with the Michelins and Discount Tire.

It is really nice to hear that someone servicing your car actually took some care and did a nice job.

Just an F.Y.I. for you, it isn't necessary to open the doors and trunk on the C5's and C6's. The newer generation cars are much stiffer torsionally than the previous generations, when opening doors etc. was important.

Glad to hear that Discount Tire did a good job.....I hope they used jacking pucks if they lifted the car at the tie down point on the rocker panels.

Put Michelin RF's on the C6 and am very, very happy with them. I am running Nitto's on the C5, but when it come time to replace them, the Michelins RF's will be the replacement.
IMO, RF technology has come a long way since inception, and teh Michelin's really show an advance.

Thanks for this info on the Michelins! I have the F1's and they are hard as a rock. Next year I'll probably go with the Mich's.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S+ZP, is what I purchased. Gave them a good run today and they are very sticky and smooth.

Did they give you any info on the run-flat specs. Like how far can you go in run flat mode (total miles) and how far can you go and the tire still be repaired. Some of the run flats out there cannot be repaired if they are use at all in run flat mode.

I have been trying to find the specs for the run flats but that seems to be impossable to gather.

I ordered The Michelin run flats from the same vendor and they arrived two days later stacked on my driveway by ups. Fast delivery. And I took a three hundred mile trip on them and they are quiet. I like them a lot.
