Default Push Start

Wondering if anyone has seen this before and know if it will work with our C5's? Thanks for the help.

Most likely.

Issues you would run into would be the column lock.. just bypass it. Then you would have to disable the VATS system.. thats simple enough to do.

If someone could come up with a way to do it, hopefully they would post up the details.

YAWN-this AGAIN-just turn the KEY. Do a search, this has come up many times. Looks like you still have to hold the brake down to use the push button-seems like just TURNING the KEY is easier and who needs even MORE FOBS?

There is a much cheaper way to add a push start then that kit. I was going to install this button in my cigarette lighter hole before I bought a Bear Panel to mount my A/F gauge and Alky control.

You can buy it in different Illuminated colors. Not sure if the light stays on the whole time or not but should be easy to wire it to shut off if needed.

News Flash: Different people have different tastes. More at 11.

What if my car has a locking column? Can I use StarDrive?
There is no easy bypass for a car that has a mechanical steering wheel lock. In this scenario, you have two choices: 1) Use the key to unlock the column or 2) permanently disable the steering wheel lock.

The electronic style steering wheel lock can be modified to work with the system.

I would put on in for a race car.

Kill switch, fire extinguisher pull handle

ignition ON switch

Push Button Start.

Ya definitely.. because chrome tail light covers, license plate covers, side cove spikes and engine dressup is great taste!

Again, different folks, different strokes.

Wow, now my feelings are hurt. I thought it was pretty cool.

Is it absolutley necessary? No. But neither is cruise control, Auto Climate control, HUD, automatic transmission..... should I keep going?

A member of the Sam Houston corvette club had a keyless push button start installed on his C5. Works just like the C6, but requires a aftermarket FOB remote.

IMO unless you plan on swapping your alarm system for an aftermarket system you're going to havee a really big keychain with all those fobs.

Lol Corvettes shouldn't even come with autos. Learn to drive or buy something else IMO.

Also, of my 3 vettes, none have HUD either.

There was a LARGE thread on this a few months ago, with schematics and everything coming out. It was dropped I believe due to a very VERY complicated installation that no one could figure out if we could even get it to work or not.

It can be done but the entire ignition/lock system is a very touchy piece of work in these cars. Having people hacking on it without knowing what they are doing is a recipe for big headaches. All for WHAT?? It's a silly, complicated piece of BLING for ZERO gain.

Spend your money on go fast goodies-much better bang for the $$$.

Well I'm definitely going to do it no matter what anyone else tells me what I should or should not do. However my budget is pretty low for mods so I'm going to use a spare Staples "EASY" button that I have laying around. It's not illuminated but the wiring should be EASY!!!
