Headlight Problem
2000 C-5 Coupe
1. When I turn on the running lights the headlights pop up but are not on (That never happended before).
2. When I turn the lights off the doors go down and the left headlight motor runs for a few seconds after the door is down (Loud Vibration).
I just sucessfully did the dim ac control fix, but don't see how this could be related. Thanks for any help that anyone can give me on this problem.
Not sure I follow as aren't your running lights on all the time? Or did you mean the parking lights (or whatever they are called)?
But I can answer your question about the "loud vibration" noise. Your headlight gear is stripped and needs replaced. Do a search for that as some of the guys here have posted great threads on how to do it.
(BTW, get the bronze or aluminun gear to replace it not a plastic one)

Appreciate everyones help. My vette has just 60,000 miles on it, but have been through 3 common fixes that I found here in the last two weeks.
My C5 did the same thing, the headlights came up with the parking lights when my one gear was stripped. All was fixed when I replaced the single bad headlight gear.
Apparently, it has to do with the headlight module operating in the "time override mode".
Normally the headlight module turns off the power when it finds a high current surge from the motors when the headlights hit their stops (either up or down) and the motors can't turn.
But this continual trying to turn at the stops, causes the plastic gear to strip, when this happens the motor can continue to turn (you hear the machine gun noise) and their is no current surge.
There must be a "time override" built into the headlight module, and it turns off the power if a surge is not detected within a certain time period (like 5 seconds).
Well, when this "time override" feature is used enough, something gets "thrown off" and it can cause headlights to raise with just parking lights being turned on.
