i was involved in an accident this morning.....Tell me if the other person involved sounds inconsiderate or not.
I am driving on 70 highway from kansas city to columbia mo. I let a mid 90's silverado with a trailer pass me. Ahead of us is what looks like a piece of wood (maybe from a desk or cabinet) close to the side of the road. There was plenty of room on either side of it to avoid running over it (without running off the road or crossing over the lane divider) the driver of the truck runs right over it, his back tire slings it into the front of my 99 C5. It destroyed the driver's side mirror sending the glass in through the driver's window, it caused other superficial damage to the driver's side. But as it hits my car i see the driver of the truck lean over in the cab and watch what happened from his side view mirror, he then speeds up and starts weaving through traffic to get away from my car. Didn't even stop to see if I was alright, it could have gone through the windshield or in through the window. Thankfully, all I got was some minor abrassions from pieces of glass that used to be my mirror. Oh and the bill for getting the repairs done seeing as how he didn't stop to exchange information. Couldn't get his plate number before her started weaving in and out of traffic either. I didn't see it wise to chase him down at high speeds with a loaded firearm in the car. Cops would have loved that. Just want to see if I am the only one bothered by the other drivers actions.

People these days have no integrity.
I literally watched someone tried to parallel park into a spot and doesn't know how (Not that I'm good, but I'm very careful) and BUMPED another car's bumper. He almost spinned his tires RUNNING from the scene. Now, I highly doubt there was any damage. Car bumpbers typically handle very light impact (He basically just rolled at like 1MPH into it). But the way the whole thing happens, is really sad. The man was like 30-40, you would think he would act like a man.
As for your case, I understand why he might have not avoided it. People driving on interstate for hours get "numb" and just can't pay attention to details like that. It seems like you feel the same way as I do. It doesn't make us mad that people mess up, it's their attitude afterward. He obviously didn't care for what he had done to you. It's too bad you didn't get a plate # Hope everything goes well with your insurance and stuff.
Being kind, let's assume he didn't see the piece in the road. Maybe when he felt it hit his tires he looked back to see what it was and then just kept drivig. He may be a aggressive driver that weaves in and out all the time and nothing changed when he hit the wood.
What an a$$ whole...... Reinforces my generally negative attitude towards truck drivers.....
I haven't found too many courteous ones...... and even less so when I am in my vette....
I am glad you are OK and not injured. Sorry about the damage to your vette...
Drivers these days need to act their age and not their shoe size.....though, if anyone has size 15 feet, then that'd somehow be an insult to me because I'm a rather adept driver.....so my father says. Haha. Sorry about the incident man!
Thanks, glad I am not the only one who thought this was guy was a jacka$$. I had debated chasing him, but in the long run he isn't worth the spent hollow points. They aren't cheap. haha. But insurance is going to cover the damages I just have to foot the deductible. Which is no fun when I have tuition and other bills to pay right now.
If you had a carry permit you could have chased him ( within safety reasons)and just showed the leo the damage he did if you got pulled over. No carry permit, you did the right thing.
If you had a carry permit you could have possibly tried to catch up (keeping safety in mind) and get his plate. If you got pulled over you could show the leo the damage. If you didn't have a permit, you did the right thing.
if you were here in NC i would help you find him. i would file the police reports and another tactic the police use is to check local body shops. He basically would of been charged with fel hit and run here, plus license lot for 30 days (dont remember time). Guy is either, 1) fix damage himself. 2) take it to a shady tree body shop that will fix it and not file it...sad but it happens 3) Do nothing and hope lady luck is on his side?
Did you info from any witnesses?
You did the right thing, he was the INCONSIDERATE BAS&TA*&

You are way off track here, The wood came off the tire and hit the vette, I am sure there was no damage to the truck.
My instinct would have been to chase him too but you did the right thing. It can easily get nasty chasing someone weaving thru traffic on a freeway. The older I get the more pi$$ed off I get at other drivers. Maybe he had a good excuse - like he was busy texting someone.
I'm not sure about traffic law up there, but here in Florida it would have made no difference if he stopped or not, as his vehicle did not hit yours and the wood did not fall from his truck. It would have been written as a single vehicle crash...your vehicle vs a moveable object in the road. Yes, if he could have missed it then he should have...sounds like he was an a$$....but either way it would come out of your insurance.
