I bought my 75 in 82 and last year gave it to a friend in trade for some significant boat repair. He has started bringing it back to life. I have a feeling I'll be sorry the first time I see it back on the road. Steel Blue with Silver interior. $6000.00 when I bought it.
I just went out and checked. My first one is still in the garage. It will be there until my sons decide who gets what when I'm gone. Not for sale. Not for trade.

My first Vette, a Glen Green 65, 350 horse convertible is still in my garage. I have owned it for 38 years. Bought it for $1,500 when I was 18 years old. Can't imagine not having it.
This is an interesting topic, at least to me! While going through some of my old car papers (I tend to keep EVERYTHING), I found the original tank sticker I pulled off my 1979, which I bought used in 1985. The car was my daily driver for about 2 years, and I traded it in on a new Fiero GT (what WAS I thinking??). Anyway, I had the VIN from the tank sticker, and I ran it is a database and found that the car was last registered in 2004 by someone in a town about 75 miles away from me. I was definitely curious, so I sent a copy of the build sheet along with a letter to the guy via mail, and a few days later he actually called me. He traded the "Vette to a friend of his several years ago, and the friend is disabled and really can't drive the car (which explains why it has not been registered in several years). He said he would call me back if the guy would let me see it, but I have not heard anything in a week or so. I will probably be very disappointed in the terrible shape the car is now in, but if I get the chance I will probably make the drive and take a look. There is definitely something about the first 'Vette that sticks with most of us over the years...
My first 60 Vette got totaled in the Rapid City Flood in june of 72. My second Vette, 68 conv. is down by Vermillion SD getting restored. My 71 coupe is in Sioux Falls. My 01 conv. is sitting outside and I love it. Best of the three. And a 69 Roadrunner 440 six-pack, 4 speed I bought our of the service in 70 is in Rapid City getting restored. Found that one on ebay.
