Whenever this thread pops up I always wonder the same question. Once you put the spare on, where are you going to put the wheel you take off? Leave it at the side of the road?

I think he's looking for skinnies in the front. LOL

I think the GTO spares are the best for that, if it is what you're going for. Otherwise, a 4th gen F-Body spare should fit as well.

Wheels will fit in the back. you have to bring the pass. seat fwd and then slid the tire/wheel in from the front.

you'd need 2 spares as front and rear tire diameters are different.

oh, and you can fit 3 OEM wheels with tires inside. one in the trunk, one under rear glass, one in the pass seat.

93-2002. I had a 97 and 02 Trans Am and both spares were identical. I know that the C5 Corvette wheels fit on the F-Bodies, so you should have no problem with the F-body spares on the C5.

I tried to slide a spare wheel and tire in the trunk once, and the rear tires were too wide even to slide under the bulkhead below the rear window. I think the fronts would fit with some finesse.

The front will fit in the trunk, the rear will fit in front of that if you offset it to the other side like this:

back of the car
..O
O..
seats

FYI

The LT1 spare ('93 '97) will not fit over the front brakes of an LS1 car (98 -02)

I used to have both cars, always left the spare out of them both for weight savings. One day I got a flat on the '02.... got a ride back home and picked up the LT1 spare (it was on top of the stack) and went back to my car. It wouldn't fit the front.... I had to go back home and get the LS1 spare.

Ah! I didn't think about that. That also begs the question if the 98-02 F-Body spare will clear a C5Z06's brakes...

All these ideas about how to fit a tire inside your car are great until you have a passenger (like for instance your pissed off wife) and some luggage. What are you going to do then? How about a roof rack and some bungee cords? Seriously, I also carry a bottle of Slime and whatever you'd need to fix a flat on the road. Plus, a cell phone and an AAA card.
