[IMG][/IMG]Hope you C5 experts can help me or at least slap me silly for asking a totally dumb question. I bought my first Corvette today...2000 FRC, only 23k on the clock! There are 3 small lighted toggle/rocker type switches just to the right of the shifter. I've scoured the manual and tried various internet and forum searches to no avail. What are they for? Dealer had no clue.
I'm hoping they are for some James Bond accessories such as passenger ejection seat, rear firing machine guns, etc...
Those are not factory switches, one of the owners before you most likley put them in.
Pull up the console and see if there even hooked up, then go from there.
You have to start somewhere, so pull up the console.
Have any lights, small or large been added to the car? I can't imagine what the switches would be for. I think I would have put them inside the console or where the ashtray goes if it had been me putting them in.
Guy, they're joshing you. They're stock switches. In order from front to rear they are:
Shields
Impulse Drive and
Warp Drive
The Dilitium tank is in the right side storage compartment in the hatch and the Dieuterium is in the left. But I bet the previous owner left them empty (Dilithium is $431 and ounce )
Congratulations, welcome aboard and enjoy the new ride
If you find they are not being used, then you have some interesting possibilities here. Three things that could be turned on/off. You could do heated seats, some stereo mods, or funky lighting.
They don't look bad from the pictures. Removing them would look bad. A new console would cost some bucks, so I say roll with it and find something to hook up to them.
I would get on the highway, floor it and start hitting buttons. Maybe its hydraulic shocks, so crank the Dr. Dre and bounce that **** down the boulevard. "Laaaiiiid back...."
In all seriousness, I'd have a reputable performance shop familiar with Vettes look at it. Somes guesses might be, nitrous, exhuast cut-out, or something as simple as aftermarket foglamps or something. Is the stereo stock?
Couldn't hurt to try and locate the original owner if your comfortable with that.

the most direct place to start (now that you've had every explanation from star wars to star trek and everything in between, lol) is to ask the folks you bought it from. what was their explanation?? those switches really could be to control just about anything. pulling the console and taking a look to see if they are even hooked up at thispoint would also be a good place to start. you might find tracing the wires a real pain, however.
Loving the replies guys! If they are for the flux capacitor I'm going straight back to 1987...I could throw a football over a mountain back then!
Car does have after market stereo/cd/dvd/nav/back up camera type thing so maybe they run some of those functions?? I'll have to do some sleuthing. I'll probably see if the dealer can get me in touch with previous owner as well.
