I believe you have to remove the closest tail light and you can reach in through there.

Yup.. Thats a roger....
Be very careful, The nuts that hold on the sidemarkers are on plastic studs and can break really easy.

It's almost as if the studs on the side markers are designed to break off!

Outside tail-lamp, be careful with the studs....they are plastic and NOT threaded. The nut just works its way down and tight.....don't break it.

Good Luck

Failure already

Ok so I opened the nearest tail light and could see the inside of the side marker. All I could see is where the bulb connects and then 2 very hard to reach ends of screws with nuts on the end of them. How do I get those off? I can't really get any tools in there to loosen them.

Some have done it from the bottom around the mufflers and some have removed the tire and loosened up the inner fenderwell...

Screws are plastic studs that are part of the light assembly. They break easily. If you go up around the mufflers, be VERY careful not to loose the hangers up in the bumper. You will NOT be able to retrieve them.

I used a box-ended wrench....I don't remember what size. You have little room to work, so be patient.

One more thing.....lefty loosey

I used a deep well socket and a tiny 1/4 inch drive ratchet through the tail light hole and worked it with my finger tips. I backed the nut off maybe a 1/4 turn then back on and then 1/2 turn, back on and so on and so forth till the nut was off.

I think new ones are like $15 a piece, that way you could spray them and let them cure and just snap the studs off the old ones and save yourself a lot of trouble.

Install SLP Loudmouths. No nasty mufflers to get in the way.

And yes, I did snap off one of the posts but it holds fine with just one.

These pics should help. Cant remember the size of the nut but a small ring spanner (wrench) will work. On the Vert its harder on the passenger side as the antenna's in the way.

maybe be a horrible suggestion, but can you tape off the area around the side marker and tint it while it is still on the car?

Dberry actually a great suggestion, that's exactly what I did. I just used masking tape and put garbage bags around them and it worked perfectly I did about 4-5 coats and then did the same to all of the tail lights. I also went ahead and painted my fuel rail colors yellow, looks pretty good but the shade is slightly off the millennium yellow.

That pretty much tops off my last week of mods. Also had put in a blackwing and vararam powerduct. Once my ecs tune gets here next week I'll have to start finding other stuff.

Pics of everything to come soon. Thanks to everyone for all of your help!

I removed a couple of screws from the rear fender wells and reached up from the bottom, much easier than going through the rear tail lights.
