I like the looks of this dual cone chrome intake system at WCC. Has anyone tried this type/results?

Thanks. I wish they showed pics of the powdercoated pipes...

I've seen both the chrome and the stainless up close and the chrome really pops!

The highly touted VARARAM and HONKER produce approx. 16-18hp according to which ad or article you read.

Most performance modification horsepower improvements are achieved at rpm levels that few street cars operate at...at least for any sustained period of time. And then they require a tune to actually see full benefit. So, is it the modification or the tune that increases the performance?

Otherwise, owners do it mostly for appearance, sound, bragging rights or bench racing.
Hotwheels I am kind of on the same page here with you in your thinking. From what I have seen of the Vararam and from track results (& mph) the Vararam works because not only bring in cool pressuized air but imo it has to be leaning out the afr (which will produce more power) when reaching a high MPH, there for increasing, performance. et and mph. But like you said you going to need to be driving at high speeds to see the full performance gain. I also agree on your comments on the tune along with getting more air to the motor. Hey hotwheels take a look at my thread here I like to get you advice and thoughts on what I am thinking if what I am thinking is correct. If you want you can either reply in that thread or pm me.

First of all, I'm not a tuner or a racer. I'm just expressing common sense and past experience of buying into advertising/manufacturers gimmick products like most enthusiasts do at some point.

Not all performance products lend themselves to improving power on cars that are primarily used for A-B transportation. Some of them can actually reduce power and reliability. If the car is tracked, that might be a different story.

From reading your other thread, it sounds like you're getting good advice from the other two members. Select a quality air intake (HONKER is certainly well thought of) and maximize it with the services of a qualified tuner.

Ok thanks for your input, I think I will call ECS to ask about thier tune parameters settings and run a few ideals past them using thier tune and see what they say.

gotta get one o these

the 30-40HP i'm talking about are the true difference of an intake that places the air intake filter inside the engine compartment (stock, blackwing) and one that uses air from outside engine compartment (vararam, honker).
SO if u have your filter using under hood air and u got to a dyno day and to two pulls...have them close the hood for one dyno pull you will see 30-40hp drop just from the engine heat. now on a dyno your hood it up so the hood is not holding in the heat and cars on dyno pulls are warmed up but not hot. and as you know hot air is bad for HP.
So for all intent and purposes the intakes like the vararam and honker use pressurized air from out side engine bay can use air that's easily 200 degree's cooler than air from under your hood during normal driving conditions which u know cold air is easier to compress in to a piston with more fuel which means MORE HP!!!!

not gonna lie im a bit more for the honker i mean i've never seen callaway make anything i didn't like and like i said our car has over 200 dyno pulls on it and has had extensive testing at Atlanta drag way and silver dollar with like air conditions with every intake said here and ones like the honker, vararam, and cyclone were much better than ones that used "engine bay air" (they stood out more when hood closed of course, but who drives with hood up?)

Contact me for a shipping quote to you.

Those cone type intakes just don't provide the power you feel once you install the VR. I used to have one.

If you're worried about the large amounts of trash install some Z06 screens. Vetteshop (forum vendor) has the best replicas for a good price.

VARARAM. Only one that is proven on the track. Might not see a lot of results on the dyno, but its because this one is truly a ram air

30-40rwhp, as measured by a dyno, is a hell of a lot of power for an intake change. Air under a hood isn't exactly stagnent, except when you're not moving.
