Feeling pretty good right now after doing the AA mod to my exhaust this weekend Definitely a difference in exhaust note at WOT and just a little deeper at lower RPMs.
I know some catback purist may not agree but the $50 that I paid for this modification was the best bang for the buck mod to date; friend of mine did it at the local auto craft shop on base. I just supplied the pipe and he did the work.
The only problem is I fine myself putting my foot in it a little deeper now just so that I can hear it again Gas mileage is gonna suffer but hey I'm good with that
cool to hear!! I really want to do this but my current garage doesn't have 220 for my welder...so I haven't done it. I started fitting a piece of pipe but that is as much progress as I've made. time for a new house with a better garage and this will get done.
Great mod I think and so much better than a Catback. I have a H/C setup and the car really sounds good at WOT. I think a Catback would make my car Too loud so this is a good middle ground and so much cheaper.
A&A exhuast mod = The reverse flow muffler has three pipe openings, one inlet and two exhaust. Bye adding a short length of tube between the inlet and the closest outlet pipe you allow a portion of the exhaust to bypass the muffler exiting straight out the connected outlet pipe. This in theory increases flow escpicialy under higher loads. I have significantly more carbon build up on the outlet pipe that has the bypass attached, so there must be some benefits. No dyno proof on any improvements.

I did this too a couple of years ago. Here is a pic before I painted
BUT......then I just had to have more, so I went the route of DMH cutouts.......NOW I AM HAPPY
Please explain these cutouts, like the cost and how long does it take to install, and where to get them. Is this controlled by a switch and I assume this means it's straight exhaust and very loud? Thanks
I chose the low-profile DMH units ($400) and had them installed locally in MEM for about $300.
They are switch-operated, can be closed, open or anywhere in-between. I have my switch mounted on the console between the shifter and the ride-select
The best part about cutouts is this; you can have all the quietness of OEM when on the highway or can set off car-alarms at will. I find for most of my driving that just barely open is best.
