After five calls and several emails complaining about the cover, they finally admitted they had problems with that brand of cover being too small.
I sent the new cover back and paid $11.96 of my money for shipping and then learned it would be 4 to 6 weeks for a replacement. My car is parked outside so this was unacceptable to me. I asked for a credit for the charges and purchased a cover from another vendor.
Eckler’s gave me credit for $137.99 , the cost of the cover. They did not, and still have not paid me for the original shipping of a defective cover or the money I paid to ship it back. I’ve sent two emails and to date, no response. Last thing I’ll purchase from Eckler’s

Maybe next time someone talks to them they should send this thread...BUT you can't just send it to Joe Schmo who anwsers the phone, ask for either the owner's email, or highest level of manager. The minute someone from up top see's that money is slowly leaking away from current and potential customers he may think twice on how he runs his business.

So many stories, so sad when a good place falls from grace. Thanks for sharing so we know who we should support and who to be aware of.

Adding my own experiences with stories like this, equals ,,I HATE ONLINE/MAIL ORDER SHOPPING!!!!I will gladly pay a bit more to walk in and buy in person!! About the only really acceptable online experiences have been with Amazon.com!! So far good prices,no sales tax, fast service plus FREE SHIPPING!! Checked Tire Rack when I wanted some new front tires. By the time I added tire price, shipping and installation at a local approved shop,,,I got a better price from the local shop!!IMO they can keep online/mail order shopping!!!

Generally when you make a purchase and it warrantied you always ship it back at your expense if there is something wrong with the item... Sucks for you. I think next time you make an online purchase find out about the return policy. I've been caught a few times myself with this BS shipping back at my expense.

This CF customer complaint is just one of many. I am sure Eckler's had been made aware of the past CF "complaint" threads. It's fairly obvious that they don't care, by their customers service track records. I (for one) will not order from them, just because of the CF members complaint issues and I wish not to be a victim either.

Yes, we've only heard one side of this story ... but there seem to be a lot of this type of stories!

Another dissatisfied customer here

It took 9 weeks to ship some parts to UK. Im used to that but the rude customer service ( One Line replies by E Mail) I received when I tried to check on the progress was the deciding factor.

NEVER again.

I enjoy driving over to their showroom from Orlando and have yet to have a negative experience; of course I have the luxury of checking the part right when I pick it up...

Heres my latest (and last) from them:

Last week ordered a car cover for my 55 Belair. I also ordered a new cover bag for my vette cover. The cover bag was $6.99. So a big box shows up a week later. It has the cover for the 55 in it, but doesn't have the extra bag. Shipping label says the other bag has to ship from another location.

So heres the kicker....they charge me 25 bucks to ship the big box with the cover. A day later I get a little box with a bag that is folded to the size of a magazine. Pull out the paper and it says the total on that box was $29.99!!!!!!!!!! 6.99 for the cover and $20 bucks for shipping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(the other was tax)......

I was in no way informed during my online order that they would ship from two locations....and so what, thats their problem. So I was charged double (outragously high) shipping!

ECKLERS SUCKS!!!

You may want to head over and browse the showroom, kinda cool!

Ecklers has thousands of satisfied customers, it's a shame with blacklist them because of a few service issues. I will admit they are not the cheapest on the block for retail, but I have a commercial account and get about 30% off...

if it were not for the gloasy paper catalogs, I would find an excellent use for them in the "small room" and would not use it as reading material.

Those that prasie them only have to wait - your time will come as well. They are overpriced, border on misrepresentation, and customers to them are just a number waiting in line.

For the OP.... you are lucky you got your money credited back, VERY LUCKY I woud say.

Not everyone has a 30% discount to offset Ecklers screw ups.
Corvette Forum should drop them as a vendor as they have with other vendors who haven't taken care of the members.

Maybe I should elaborate. Discount aside, I really have not had quality, service or shipping issues with Ecklers (had numerous items shipped out of state)...

I am not disputing the issues in this thread, but Eckler's is a multi-million dollar business, and to have a perfect service record with that many shipments is impossible. As a business owner I know this.

So my point is, cut them some slack and don't jump on the bandwagon if you have never ordered from them.

Wtf, you read 6 or 7 bad service stories out of 1000's of transactions per month and you are going to write the company off???

Yup! Because I don't want to take a chance and get screwed, if something goes wrong with my order. I'll go to a store that takes pride in their customer service any day of the week, then go to a store that don't care (once they get your money). It's called trust and customer's satisfaction. Way to many horror stories on how Eckler's treats their customers compared to some of the other cool CF Vendors with great reviews and NO complaints.

If you think the 6 or 7 issues is the whole story than your smoking some good ****. To each their own, continue to buy from them that's your choice. Me, I'll move on to a supplier than takes care of its customers. Six or seven issues out of 1000s wouldn't give them a poor business rating in Florida, but what the hell do I know, I'm not a business owner.

I understand your point. However, when I was building tri five cars a few years ago, I used to order a lot of parts from CLASSIC CHEVY INTERNATIONAL (CCI in FL). They had a terrific national/international reputation as a source for reproduction '55-56-57 parts. They had dependable tech support who knew what they were talking about. CCI and DANCHUK were about the only two places that most tri five builders depended on.

Then ECKLER'S bought out CCI. Sorry to say their reputation is no longer held in such regard. I do like their glossy catalog. But, most of the items they sell are available from other sources for less money. The biggest benefit was being able to order from one source...
