Does anyone know if you can pop start a corvette with a completely dead battery (lights left on, dome lights, ect..)? Or will there not be enough power to fire the injectors or ecm?
i dont think it will work if its completely dead, even my civic wouldnt do that. i found it only worked if there was enough power to have the lights work but not enough to get it start up
You will need power to run the fuel pump, that applies to all EFI engines. Also there has to be enough juice to disengage column lock (very temperamental) unless there is a CLB installed.
If you could kick start the car, letting it run to charge the battery is the worse thing you can do. It overheats the alternator and can damage the regulator. You should always charge the battery with a charger first. This is true with any car.
1) Key has to be read by the computer to unlock the security/column.
2) Fuel pump needs power to get fuel to the fuel rail.
3) Injectors need power to operate.
4) Computer needs power to read Crank sensor to know when to fire.
5) Coils need power to fire plugs.
