noob c5z owner here. I have a '03 MY Z that came with taillight louvers. they don't really work for me so I removed them today. They were held on with these screws (see pic). these are not stock right? the stock fasteners are torx screws correct? does anyone know where I can get the correct fasteners to replace these? thanks.
There might be a problem with trying to go back to oem TORX screws. If those Phillips screws are a different thread pitch/size, the oem TORX might not fit tightly anymore.
Finding TORX screws at a home improvement center is not likely. You can find them at fastener supply sources. One that many of us use is McMASTER-CARR, but you'll need to know thread pitch/size to order...
Another option to consider (available from McMASTER-CARR or your favorite home improvement store) are hinged and snap on screw covers. It won't matter what the screw looks like beneath as they'll be covered from the elements...

Hey, thanks for all the info and good point about the stock fasteners maybe not fitting properly anymore (I'd like to start there though and see how it goes). I called the dealer and they want $4.38 EACH for the screws. So, off to the hardware store I go. The parts guy gave me the specs:
M4 .2 x 1.4 x 30
I read that as 30mm long and 1.4 thread pitch. not sure what the .2 means...
I think the stock fastener is black, is that correct?
I can't find this exact fastener on McMaster Carr. Closest I came up with is a 25m long .7 thread pitch M4 button head. But it takes a T20 driver... I think I read here on the forum that T15 is what the stock fastener takes.
Worst case I can try the screw cap idea but it's not really what I want to do...
Hey, any louver lovers out there have stock screws they don't need anymore?
that's a nice clean look with the seals and the caps. I will probably go that route but I would still like to know the correct fasteners are behind the caps (call me picky). somebody must know where to get them... tried the hard ware store; no luck.
I installed allen "button head" stainless screws from Lowes. Cheap, rust free and look better than phillips head. The black plastic caps looks clean as well in the picture above.
