I guess I am just lucky because I live in Florida and do not have to worry about the winter and snow. What I have always wondered however is why you (all those in the north) want to put it to bed for the winter, and there is not even snow on the ground. It is only October (I know it has turned cold in spots) why put it away just because the temp. has dropped I don't understand. If you enjoy driving it, way not wait until the weatherman says SNOW tomorrow.
When I lived in Indiana I put mine away the first winter but then came to my senses and never did that again.
You are right, it's just cold in many of these places and it usually doesn't snow until January. I got the heater option in mine and enjoyed driving all year except in snow.
Now that I'm in Florida, winter is really our season to drop the top and enjoy. Top down and there’s still room for the golf clubs.

It's not just the temp but the crummy weather. You have to know your area and around here you don't see too many nice cars on the road after October 15th. To me it's just like covering up the patio funiture or getting the sprinkler system blown out. Just an October things.
Mine does not see rain either. But the real reason I put it away in October is so I can have nice weather to give it that one last weekend drive and detail session. Some guys I guess can just throw it in the garage and not care but I am the kind of person that needs it be spotless for it's hibernation. You can't wax when the temp all of a sudden goes to 30 and there are no more nice days left.
I bought my car this past Feb. and have put almost 12K on it. I plan to drive it all winter when the roads are dry. I only had the cover on two weeks so far this year. Later! Frank
This will be the 10th year I've stored my car and I've never used a battery tender. I disconnect the negative battery terminal and that's it. My car sits from the end of October until the first couple of weeks in April and has always fired right up. I change the oil, fill it with gas, add Stabil, over inflate the tires, put several bars of Irish Spring soap in the interior (to keep the mice out) and cover it.
I put mine away last night for the winter. It's nice having my garage back and not having to worry about cleaning it every time I drive it. Unfortunately, when January rolls around all I'll be thinking about is having it back home again.
