The weather has been bad here the past 2 weeks so I have left the Vette under the carport. Got it out the other night and when I turned on the heat the bad odor of a dead mouse hit me in the Face! Is there any device that will turn those nasty rats away! In 4 years under the carport this is the first one. The dead rat was in my fan blower.
Dryer sheets is supposed to keep mice away. I used to store my '69 Camaro for years in a pole barn and never had any mouse issues. I bought a box of dryer sheets and would put them everywhere, interior, under the hood, exhaust pipes etc. (use the whole box)! Smells better than moth *****, which is also supposed to work on mice.
Great info about the dryer sheets. I'll give them a try.
2 years ago I found a nest under the hood of my DD. A trap caught the culprit that night. Last week, I found another nest in my DD and a deuce on top of the battery in my Corvette More traps did the job but I'm going to deploy the sheets as a defensive measure.
I guess the car port would make it more of a challenge, I just put about 10 moth ***** around in my garage, keeps the car smelling fine, but the garage wreaks. They evaporate in about 2 weeks so watch them and replace when necessary.
Yes.... unfortunately it is true. C5 make great mouse habitats. I am not sure how they get in, but they love the HVAC ducting and the blower motor. I dropped my blower motor out a few years ago and there was a nice collection various seeds inside.
My EX-GF had a dead mouse in her HVAC ducting under her dash in her Olds Alero. It took a few days for her to get it in at the shop....... By then it was BAD!! It took awhile (and alot of Febreeze) to get that dead smell out of there.
This was b4 i was with her, otherwise i wouldve been the "lucky" one to get the rotten corpse out of there.

Good Luck
Not to mention you don't have static cling in the spring.
Dryer sheets seem to work well. Also, I've heard Irish Spring soap works but I haven't tried it.
Maybe worse than a dead mouse in the ducts is one living in there but trapped. That happened to my wife's car. It crapped and urinated throughout the entire system of ducts. I had to remove the interior to get the ducts out and wash everything with Javex followed by soap and water. Horrible smell!
