I bought the interior off of a wrecked '99 coupe (minus the seats, electronics and dash for CHEAP (real cheap!!!). All I wanted was the center console. One of my goals was to remove the traction control/shock adjuster panel on my '98 for the traction control only panel on the '99. (I replaced my shocks w/Bilsteins.) I switched the units out and was able to turn the traction control on and off. However, I got a message on the DIC that says to service traction control. So, back went the original unit.
I thought I might be able to switch the inards out from the '99 into the '98. However when I opened both units I noticed that the '98 unit's shock adjuster is wired directly to the panel whereas the traction control unit on both panels are plug ins.
Question: Is it ok to cut the 4 wires to the shock control portion in the '98 and install it in the '99 panel. I don't want computer repercussions.
44 hits and no one has an answer. Oh well, I may just go ahead and cut the 4 wires to the shock control switch and see what happens. If the computer faults out I can always reconnect them.
I just am going to have to gather up the cajones to do it.
Thanks. Saw your pics. I wanna keep every thing where it is. I just want to exchange the two switch panel with the one switch panel and the computer doesn't like that.
Question is WHY!!! I assumed the traction control button on the '98 double switch panel and the one on the '99 single button panel would be compatable....
