Default Slow Order Processing From Vendors

I'm just wondering who is like me when it comes to ordering parts from vendors/sponsors. I ordered a set of fuel rail covers(OEM, not custom) from a sponsor on here on the 4th of this month. They shipped out on the 13th and will be here the 20th. There was no communication of this for days. When I called the person seemed annoyed.

I ordered a set of floor mats yesterday and just received notice that they will ship on Tuesday. I'm not aware of any holidays Friday or Monday.

Neither of these places will see repeat business from me assuming I can find an alternative with less delay. If I can wait 2-3 weeks on something I don't even care enough about it to place the order. I'll be placing all of my orders by phone in the future to make sure parts are in stock and ready to ship.

I think quite a few vendors are 1-2 man operations without a tangible brick & mortar presence. So they get quite busy, I imagine.

and most vendors do not keep these items in stock.
When the customer orders a product from a Vendor

The vendor then ordes that item from the distributor which drop ships to the customer.

Therefor a week or two

You would be surprized how many vendors order when you buy an item and then it is shipped to the vendor and then shipped to the buyer.

Sometimes it does take a day or two to get the processing/accounting issues out of the way - What would concern me more is if they do not have things in stock and don't tell you that, which results in a much longer delay in getting your stuff.

I don't know about that, but I ordered a part from one of our vendors, and after about a week i decided against the purchase as I had one sent to me, and I called to see if it had been sent. The guy say no, thay hadn't gotten around shipping anything yet? So I said to forget about my order? I didn't know that vendors would take so long in shiping a item?

Ask for a time line when you order. They should be able to tell you when to expect it. If it's too long ask if they can expedite it or go somewhere else.

As a previous business owner I was always transparent with all my transactions. Basic communication is all the OP's asking.

Its not just forum vendors...I ordered something non Vette related and they didn't ship for 10 days...why??? Got me... I know for a fact it was in stock.

I would suggest in the future you ask when you order unless the website says we ship all orders in X time.

Most of us are pretty small here and 1-2 man operations like someone mentioned.

You didn't order those items from me, but I'll explain how I do things.

A lot of items I have are drop shipped. It's more cost effective that way since most people look for the lowest price. If I ordered a part and had it sent to me and then sent to you that raises the costs a lot.

I typically try to note when there will be shipping delays due to custom orders etc and notify my customers. Sometimes it does take a few days to get around to it because of the amount of orders/questions coming in. I think 3-4 days should be the max though. Yes, I'm guilty of going over that a few days myself.

When I personally order something online I always go in expecting it to take a while. You won't be let down this way. If I need something quick I either contact them to be sure I can have it quick or find it locally if possible.

I have had great experiences with many of the vendors on this forum, a few take longer but mostly due to custom orders , on the whole I get an email stating shipped date and a tracking number, way more good than bad.

Not sure who you ordered from, I can say that floor mats are custom made to order. There are over 200 combinations and no vendor could afford to stock them. Floor mats are typically 2-3 days after order date.

Painted items are custom made to order for the same reasons, other than that I wouldn't see why any vendor would wait so long to ship if an item is in stock.

Good point on the floor mats. On the other item it is just ridiculous. I'll just make it a point to call first from now on with other parts.
