So you have over $350 in TPMSs which are measuring a sealed pipe to keep you from getting messages.

They only have to break one side of the tire bead seal to mount TPMSs, I would think most places would do it for $10-20 a tire. No need to rebalance. Then you would be measuring actual tire pressure.

I could be wrong but I don't think this is going to work. The transmitters do not become active until they are rotated a certain amount of time. Without rotation the BCM will think it has lost communication and you'll get the XXX display for tire pressure just like you would with no sensors.

Wow, Bought new sensors and didn't go through the trouble to do it right and have them mounted?
My Vette deserves better than that, But it is your car and money.

I belive your TP transmitters go "live" at approx 15 MPH of tire revolution...

I'm calling bluff on this one. They only read correctly with revolutions of the wheel if I'm not mistaken.

They go inactive when not turning to preserve battery life. From the service manual:

"When the vehicle is stationary the sensors internal roll switches are open, which puts the sensors into stationary mode. In this mode the sensors transmit once every 60 minutes. As vehicle speed increases, centrifugal force closes the sensors internal roll switches, which puts the sensors to go into drive mode. In this mode the sensors transmit once every 60 seconds."

OK, You drive around with a tube of air or wheel barrow tire if you want, But keep in mind, You have an American Legend, Not a Yugo or a Honda.
I hope you have your flamesuit on.

Not quite sure what you are saying here, What is cecile?
Seeing the car is only to be used for racing why not have a tune done and have the TPS removed, You will gain 2 things, A better running car and can take some weight out of the car like wheel barrow tire or 4inch pipe.

I don't believe TPMS can be removed with a tune.

Sure amazes me the things people will go through to NOT do the correct thing. I think TPMS is Federally mandated anymore-I doubt it can be removed easily.

If that shop was going to charge you $350 just to install the sensors, time to look for another shop. That is absolutely insane.

I paid a shop $150 to have my new TPS sensors installed in my custom 19" & 20" rims. Most shops would not even touch my wheels, but I did find a custom shop that would do them!

The Toyota guy do this pipe thing when they run off road tires.

Works for Toyota will not work for a Vette.

Although I have heard of guys putting them in a pipe then swinging the pipe round and round with a rope.

Actually,01 thru 04 you can have it turned off by a tuner. I debated doing this with my new wheels but found an alternative. Plus I'm not cheap so I'll pay to have them installed.

Almost correct most tuners don't have a TECH2 and HP tuners does not program the BCM. You can have them turned off with a TECH2 tool but only on 01-04 since the C5 Z06 didn't come with them it is an option to have them turned off all other year C5's have the TPMS so the Tech2 won't let you remove the option out of the programing.

I honestly hate the damn things and I am glad I won't have to deal with them with my 04 C5 Z06
