Back when I had a supercharged G35, I raced a Z06 at Ennis raceway in TX. He was trying so hard to beat me that he accidentally went from 3rd to 2nd when shifting to 4th and over revved his motor, causing him to break loose and come into my lane. Luckily he was beating me by a car or two and I had enough time to react and swerve out of the way. His car did the same as in this video. Made me want to sell my G35 and buy a Z06 (because he was stock and beating me).
Had this been a C5Z or had this been further down the track, I might buy that argument. Judging by how far down the track he was, I'd say he was still in 2nd gear. The C6Z has long gears and only goes thru 3 gears in the 1/4 mile (depending on modifications and rear tire diameter)
That is a shame. This is the third or fourth similar c6 Z drag crash that I've seen. My plan is to get a c6 z in 6 years and these vids really concern me....I would be so pissed if this happened (at the track, not street. However, since ins. won't cover you, I'm scared about that too)

No as far as i am aware. My friends father wrecked a 06 Mustang and had it towed to a bridge and put the car along the wall on the bridge on a rainy day to get paid.
So thats why insurance rates are so high
Your friends father should be ashamed of himself.
If you can't afford to pay....then you shouldn't play.
Wow! So a guy takes his car to the track. Makes a mistake or has a mechanical problem. He crashes and instantly is a dumbass. Well sign me up for the dumbass column cause I parked mine into a tire wall at the track last month. At least some people take it to the track and run like it was designed for. Instead of making it a pimp boulevard cruiser or racing on the streets.
Sometimes, $h1t happens... I admit I made mistake. I don't think that equates me to being a dumbass though. I'm also not asking my insurance to pay for it even though it was at a Driving School.
The crashes in the first 2 videos are 100% driver error. They both stayed on the throttle hard after loosing traction......
I've had similar loss of traction while driving hard from a stop with trx contr. off in this z and from instinct, I let off the throttle and the rear end comes back in line. So, is this just a case of a driver so concerned with winning that he ignores instinct and keeps the hammer down?
Would launch control prevent this in the c6z?
My next z is a 2010/11 in 2015/16, with launch control, naturally.
OMG that is funny trying to get some heat in those street tires
I think that tool was trying to do that at first and then he got to liking the fish-tailing and switched his goal to creating more fish-tailing and then he crashed........tool.

I've done track days where guys drive their cars way beyond their abilities putting every-one's safety and cars at risk. I've put my car on the trailer rather than run with these azz holes.
At Mid Ohio a few years ago I saw a brand new yellow C6 Z06 destroyed on a SCCA PDX track day, no racing allowed, just a track day with Ferraris and Lambos driving at high speed but safely......but the dumb azz over drove his daddy's Z into a tire wall. It was hauled out on a wrecker. The owners were very distraught Try explaining that to your insurance company.

I remember Mark Martin having that happen at, I think Atlanta years ago. He was on the pole and warming his tires on the parade-lap. Mark is a pretty fair driver, but it was a very cold day, and he just lost it into the grass. Being the stand-up guy that he is, he admitted his mistake, but it just goes to show, anything can happen on COLD TIRES (assuming that contributed to the issue in this video).

true..just speculation on my part.
although it just looks to me like he was just di*king around like a cut-up or show off trying to get attention in a HS teenager kind of way and got busted

the thing about the video that makes it really funny is that it was only a parade lap. They're driving around at less then highway speeds, people weren't even wearing helmets, no need to warm the tires up for that.

Yeah and so much for being "cool" at the track.....
I know the owner and am familiar with his new C6/Z06 and saw the damage in person. I forgot the exact reason why this accident occurred, but its unfortunate. The owner said the car didn't lose traction, but rather just darted or pulled to the right for some unexplained reason. I also don't think he had his AH/TC on, but I'm not 100% since this was a year ago. Seems unusual that several C6/Z06s are pulling to the right while drag racing leading to an accident - not sure if its only in a certain gear/RPM/speed or what... very strange.
