Go to O'Reilly Auto Parts and grab a 75ext... It has more amps (both cold and cranking) than factory with a 3 yr free replacement and 84 month prorated warranty.. Also It has silver alloy internals rather than the standard lead alloy so it lasts longer in various climates and resists plate breaking. Btw 2 of the most seen batteries I have to change out at work within a year of being new are the duralasts and the everstarts... I believe O'reilly still may have a sale going on with the extreme climate batteries.
Thanks for all the responses so far guys. =) I think I'm going to stay clear of the Yellow or Red Tops now, as it sounds like the people buying them like them but are replacing them every couple of years and that's a normal thing.

Had 3 Yellow Tops. Always had problems with them keeping a charge.

Smart man I went with the Excide Orbital, not the cheapest but it has been a great battery. The Sears Diehard battery has gotten some good reviews.
Optimas are junk plain and simple. Whenver there is a battery problem here, it seems it always has to do with Optimas Red or yellow. I had 4 friends all with vettes ditch optimas because of problems.

Ya our return rate for them is 1:2.. Every one out of 2 sold is returned... Alot of the problem is that they are meant to be completely abused as a battery for it to stay alive. If it just sits in a car and is driven only on the weekends the gel in the cells sinks and the charge basically dissipates. After this they will test bad but after a long talk with Optima if you turn it upside down for about 24 hours and then charge/test it it will usually test good 80% of the time.
My 2002 Z06 still has the first replacement GM battery that went in in 2004 - pretty darn good!
I would also seriously consider COSTCO and Wallmart batteriies.
No cents in repacing with a fancy spancy battery - especially when no value is added.
Ya the original delco's were great! I replaced mine this year and mines an 01! the battery wasn't even bad I just didn't wanna get stranded. True about the no value added but convenience is nice. I sat in a drive in movie theater with the sound turned up for 3.5 hours and the battery turned the car over no prob!
My OEM battery had its last start 2 weeks ago, I got a Bosch battery from autozone and it leaked acid so it was quickly taken out. Most likely a defective battery but ended up just getting a sealed acdelco from the stealership. Should have done that in the first place.

I just replaced my original battery in my 03 which was in the car for 7 years and still going strong with the same one that was in their that came with the car the delco
about 2 years ago mine died while I was out running around , I walked to wallyworld and picked up a cheapy with the notion of replacing it soon. It's still there with no problems. I think it was about $50.
Another vote for Costco. Forget fancy expensive batteries. They don't have any better record than the cheapest fitting battery from Walmart.
My last Walmart battery is now three years old and cost about $70.
I was reading a issue of Consumer Reports and they had a section on Car Batteries, and they said the one that ranked top was the brand sold at Walmart ? Although between Batteries and Motor Oil discussed here is
Consumer Report rated Maxx Everstart (Walmart) #1 in 4 out of 6 group sizes Kirkland (Costco) right behind ,at $ 75.00 they are both a bargain
Funny that this thread popped up so I would see it.
My Vette has had the same battery since I bought it two years ago and I don't know how long the battery has been in the car. (Has a sticker on it that says "05.") I am having issues with my HID fogs and wanted to eliminate the battery as the issue. I went to WalMart and picked up a Maxx Everstart......
Came home to put it in. When the positive terminal would just touch, the underhood light would come on. When the terminal was totally attached-tightned-there was NO connection. I put the old battery back in and it works MUCH better.
From what I can tell the freakin positive terminal on the Maxx Everstart is bad. WTF!!
I'm taking it back today or tomorrow. The battery in there is a Les Schwab battery that has more AMPS than the Maxx Everstart-might just get another one of those.
