I lowered my 2001 Z06 about a week ago , and now that the car has settled a lil more the back seems to sit lower than the rear....
Anyway i went out today and jacked the rear of my car up to raise the rear of the car a lil bit...i undone the bolts a lil bit to try and raise the rear up ....and it didnt do anything for raising my car up a lil
Re: Quick Responses for Lowered Z06's PLEASE! (Z06 THIS)
OK OK ...i think i know what i was doing wrong, ...it seems by me ''losening'' the rear lowering bolts in the back ( which i thought would raise my car up a little bit )...actually seemed to be ''lowering'' my car more! I guess by me ''losening'' the rear lowering bolts put LESS tention on the leaf spring ??...causing the rear of the car to sit lower with less tention ? Oh well..
So what i did was ''tighten'' the rear lowering bolts and it seems NOW that my car sits higher in the rear ..i guess it put more tention on the rear leaf spring ...and it brings the car back to a higher suspension i guess ? Does that sound right to anyone.... By putting MORE tention on that rear leaf spring it will help to raise the car ?
WEIRD !!!!
I think i almost got it were i want it now so hopefully it will be a lil higher in the back like i wanted it to be in the FIRST place :p:
Re: Quick Responses for Lowered Z06's PLEASE! (Z06 THIS)
Spring tension is not a factor here.
The car literally hangs on the spring - how much of the bolt is below the nut defines the car's static height. Since the nut is abvove the spring, loosening lowers, tightening raises.

Sounds like you have it now! I am glad to hear you are lifting the rear back up some! When you showed us all the car a few days ago just after the lowering was completed, I was the one that replied that I liked it but thought the rear should come back up some! You have an awesome car man! The ML Z06 is my favorite!

Actually, handling wise, you did "tighten" the spring just a bit. Basically, when you raise one corner of the car, you effectively tighten it up on that corner, which adds a bit of corner weight, which will cause the opposite corner to increase in weight too. This is helpful to balance the car out and to "add a wedge" as the NASCAR guys say. If you add a "wedge" or tighten up or raise the left rear, this will cause the car to oversteer slightly when turning to the right (assuming you had a neutral car to begin with). You can get on a 4 corner scale, raise and lower the corners and watch the weights change...about 7-10 lbs of wedge for a full turn as I recall.

I stand corrected (sort of)...actually I was assuming equal adjustments side to side. Attempting to corner balance without scales is not a rewarding pursuit...
