I'm getting the itch to get another C5. I've located a 2000 coupe, auto with 127K on it. It has no mods and is Nassau blue, I think. Color is not given in the ad, but the only light blue that I'm aware of that was offered that year was Nassau. Owner is asking $11,800. This sound like a good price to me, but I don't want to be impulsive. I plan to call the owner and get more details. Any input from the forum will be helpful. Thanks
A lot would depend on options, what condition it is in, how it has been maintained. IMO with that many miles, it seems a bit high. I bought a 2000 nassau blue coupe pretty well loaded in Feb. for 16000.

A lot will depend on the car's condition, how it was maintained (good records would be a plus), and the options. It does seem a bit high for a car with 127K miles on it though.
I've talked to the owner and the car has some issues. It appears that the targa top may have fallen victim to having been driven without it being latched. The top is black and it's missing the headliner which leads me to believe it's been replaced. It seals up good, no leaks. The water pump was replaced recently along with the drive line seal on the transmission. It appears that the rear bumper cover has been repainted and the sun visors need to be replaced. It has the equipment package that includes the HUD, dual climate control, etc. The power seats are not working. The motors work, but the seats won't move. It has two new rear tires and two newer front tires. The driver side window needs to be adjusted. I've got a buddy going out to look at the car for me this evening. Hopefully I'll have some photos and some better info on the car. He's going to check the DIC for recent or current codes and get me the list of RPO's from the glove box. I just checked the Kelly Blue Book and it shows the private party price to be $10,990 for good condition and $9790 for fair condition. I was thinking somewhere in between would be a decent price if the interior checks out okay and no major codes showing.
So far, so good. Now get a CARFAX after you get the VIN to see if there are any surprises like salvage title or accidents. The problems you found (so far) are relatively easy fixes. Also, ask the seller if you can take it to a nearby Chevy dealer for a pre-purchase inspection. It may cost you a couple of hundred, but that's an easy expense before you possibly waste thousands. Good luck, and best wishes!
Right now K.B.B. is a bit on the optimistic side with their prices,,that said, sounds like this car would fall closer to the "fair" side of the description. IMO,,that price is pretty high for that kind of miles. My guess would be closer to $8,000!! That many mile,,that condition,,and this time of year,,I'd play hard ball as these factors are in YOUR favor!! That is not a car that is going to carry much of a price,,it's not going to be easy to sell!!!
Just got off the phone with my buddy. Looks like I probably ought to pass on this one. Car has paint issues, smells like mildew inside, front bumber cover torn, body panels don't line up, etc. The classic signs of a car that has been abused and mistreated. On top of everything else, when the codes were pulled there were thirty identified. I will be getting them later and am curious to see what is there. It won't make a difference, because this one is a definite no go, but I would like to see what it's history shows.
