I just ordered an OEM C5 Z06 clutch kit for my Z and I received a Luk brand kit. I've read a few websites that say Luk supplies factory clutches, but nothing definitive. Is this kit indeed an OEM kit?
I have a Luk Pro Gold in my car and had to call them for a tech question. The engineer told me (after asking) that they are indeed the oem supplier.
The Luk Pro Gold is basically the factory LS6 clutch with a slightly modified (more aggressive) friction material than stock.
It feels and drives like the one it replaced. I'm happy with it.
The engineer told me that after the LS2 series, that GM is using the old LS6 unit on the newer LS3 cars!! Cool to know. There were complaints about the on/off grabbiness of the LS2, so it went back to the older one.

I also have the luk pro gold and thought the fingers on the pressure plate were longer giving it more clamping force...Are you saying the new ls3's are using the ls6 clutch now?

"I" am not saying that. I'm just passing on what I heard from an engineer at Luk.
I just put a GM clutch in my Z a couple of months ago. The old clutch had 64K on it and it looked new. The new clutch feels and drives great and the pedal is perfect. I understand why the racers want a upgraded clutch but for a street driver I'm glad I went with the OEM. I also put in a brand new trans and it's also great.
Isn't the LUK Pro Gold/LS6 clutch more expensive than the current deals going around for the LS7 clutch kit?
I guess some people think the LS7 kit is too heavy, but I'm very happy w/ the LS7 kit I had put in my 02 Z. One would think it should stand up to a little more power as well, but who knows.
I just had mine removed from my car, maybe 1k miles. It's your's if you want it, it would cost shipping & some handling. No racing or big Smokey burn outs.
