I have a 2000 that won't start. It will turn over but the cluster will only stay lit up for a few seconds. Tried a different cluster still would not start. Had a new body control module put on 1yr ago. Any ideas???
Get in your car and lean so you can hear if the fuel pump kicks on. Just turn the key on, not to start. It will only kick on for a second or two. If you don't hear it kick on it may be your ign. switch. I just helped a guy who had the same type of problem. Do a search here on the ign. switch. May not be it but its a start.
Ok, you need to state first whether or not the engine is at least turning over or not. If it isn't, we can suggest one set of things to look at and if it is turning over but not starting there is a totally different set of things. First off, put a meter on your battery with the ignition off and measure the voltage. You need at least 12.5vdc static for the onboard systems to run. Yes, the engine will still turn over with even like 10vdc but the computers won't work, therefore it won't start. Let's start here and see what you have.
Hey guys, i posted on C5 Tech about the same issue, take a look at my post and probelms and see if you think it could be my ignition or battery as well.
When i replaced my starter, the shop said my battery had a bad cell and needed to be replaced but i thought there were trying to upsell me because my battery showed 13.5 when im running and the times it does start, it fires up strong. ( they tried to triple charge me on the starter so i was leary after that of what they said )
here is the link to the thread, any help is appreciated
