Mine quit working too. I may have to try this cleaning fix. Last time though, it wouldn't even fully eject the CD. I had to go after it with some screwdrivers. Of course, that just ruined a couple songs on the disk......
CD died in my other car too, so no disks for me in either car!
In C5 Tech, use search or search this forum(in the red banner) for past threads on cd changers. Many of them had the correct model number(s) used in the C5 cars. Not every CD changer will be compatible with the BOSE system. And keep in mind that part numbers regularly change or are discontinued.
You might be able to find the replies in which I expressed the research I had done 2-3 years ago. It was more towards the installation brackets, cartridges and harness, but it contained information that you might find useful.
This vendor sells the correct GM C5 CD changer as well as having other related parts for a new installation in a car that didn't come with the CD changer originally...

They have been talking about the in-dash single cd player, not the changer.
to the OP, definitely sounds like either the laser is dirty or is getting weak.
I'm aware of what he's talking about. That's why I asked him the question in my previous reply, post #7 and which he answered in post #11.
If one checks the link I provided, the company has all types of oem GM sound system components, including the in dash radios and changers. They also do repairs.

Recording music/audio on CDs especially the CDR/Ws work best when sampled and written at slower speeds. Try adjusting your sample/write speeds for your CD/DVD drive, this will allow the LED ample time to ensure a cleaner burn on the CD.
