[Z06] 01 with 405hp?
Thanks,
Kyle
NO '01 Zo6 was 405hp. Late production cars got the newer piston design, but the cam, valvesprings, cats, airbox, descreened maf all happened strictly in the '02+ years.
Think about it, to get the engine EPA/CARB certified for emmissions is a big process. It was all upgraded/changed for the '02 year model, not recertify an engine for a final run of cars in twilight months of a closing year model.

Thanks,
Kyle
The newer designed pistons ( cold start piston slap) wwere introduced to the '01 production line in Mid-April of 2001 for the LS6 ( and weeks later for the LS1).

I saw a C5 Coupe today with C6Z06 505HP badges on it. Badges didn't make it a C6Z06 anymore than the Z06 405hp badge does that car. Seller is probably hoping for a less informed or knowledgeable person; he'll probably find them too.

I have only been into these cars since 2001 as an owner, so what would I know about them -
But I have never ever heard of a 2001 car that came with the upgraded 405 hp engine.
Dyno numbers are just a reference point and are not to be take as gospel due to the many variables that come into play during a dyno run.
Where the rubber meets the road is where you will see the difference, and I would submit the bone stock Z06 fast list from this very forum

It seems evident to me that the 02 and later cars seem to be winning the 1/4 mile wars, and thus one may extrapolate that these later cars are incrementally more powerful as delivered.
I see only fatuous twaddle by way of evidence from the folks who dispute this.
The 01, as stated, was no slouch and nobody need hang their heads about ownership of one.

best regards -

Gotta love when someone joins the forums (Oct 2009), puts up a bunch of completely inaccurate posts, and then gets pissed and attacks a senior member when he corrects the posts. That is classic!!
A bone stock 01 370HP SAE corrected dyno run? Yeah, sure.
