No - I know for a fact they are factory original but hoping nothing happens that will require a repaint. My wife drives the black A4 as a dd and, well, you never know when I'll get the call that she backed into something. It wouldn't be the first time.
I'm gonna vote original, because i currently am...but i'm really leaning towards haveing the rear bumper repainted. It sounds like a top-notch shop can do just as good as any factory paint (by the sound of it).
My worry wasn't the cost, but more so the quality. 10-20 years down the line, would the rear bumper look as good as the rest of the car if it's repainted?
Sounds like a lot of people here seem to think so. At least 30%, that is. Might I add, this is already more then I thought it would be
I'll bet that most of the single panel repaints are front bumpers, to be honest. Stone chips are just inevitable and over time, it's bound to happen no matter what you do to try and avoid it.
How do you guys with repainted bumpers/panels find the quality of aftermarket jobs compared to the factory? I'm hearing a lot about them being softer then factory, and not holding up near as well.
I know that there are many factors that determine the quality of an aftermarket job, but i'm just asking about your personal findings.
Anyone wish they hadn't? Completely happy with it?
Recently painted the lower rear satin black for the look. Rear was starting to look like it was spreading out from age. F/**** - Other than that my 2003 hasn't been dinged. Not a spot on her.
i had my fascia repainted, but since i take a lot of long trips it is now full of stone chips again. decided to start using my bra in the rain and just wash it afterwards for long trips. im getting a full paint job next spring. my car has a rediculous amount of stone chips all over the body. it think the previous owner drove it on a gravel road or something.
good question to ask you painting gurus...is it possible for repainted quality to ever surpass factory quality? I know you have baked-on vs. air cooled, but theoretically speaking, could something be repainted to better quality then factory?
