Default Nitto NT505

Anyone have any experience with the NT505? I've been leary of Nitto's since I worked in the tire business, but that was a long time ago, and they seem to have a better following now. Anyone running the NT505? I'm considering a set for my car as I need tires, but was hoping for some feedback. I briefly tried a set of Invo's, but they felt very dull and slippery, so I took them back. I might have just not allowed them to break in, but I didnt want to take a chance on getting stuck with crap tires as I have been known to drive swiftly from time to time.

At the moment I have Good Year F1 EMT's, and they are spooky slippery. You never know when they will let loose, and once they do, it's very hard to get them pointed in the right direction again. I has a set of PS2's, and LOVED them. Perfect tire, but I'm in a tough spot for available cash at the moment.

You will LOVE the NT05's, I had PS2 before these and they spun the tires, the Nt05s hold the 600 rwhp allot better.
They are very sticky, you'll find they don't squeal on hard corners.
I'm running 335/30/19 and 275/35/18 whicch balanced great with no computer errors.

Do a search here on CF and on the net, you'll not find a bad report, besize that they smell when new like dog s&it with a side order of horse manure which goes a in 2 weeks. Don't store in the house when you get them because you'll have to leave home.

How do they compare to the NT555IIs? I have these and love them, but am open to a more streetable tire if it will help control 600hp.

The 555RII is a track ONLY type tire. with a 100 Tread Wear rating

The NT05 is a sticky street use tire with a 200 Trear Wear rating.

How do they compare in traction? The 555 is GREAT for straight line AND twisties, and I would hate to give any of that up. I have had NO issues with using them on the street with the exception of rain. (No problem with that so far, but I do take it easy.)

I've added some power and I want the absolute stickiest tire I can get that gives up NOTHING in handling.

The tread wear rating can and will directly relate to traction. The softer the tire the stickier it will be. The lower the tread wear rating, the softer the compound is. I can NOT tell you from experience the difference between these 2 tires since I have not used them both. This is the best I can do for you.

I will however guarantee to you that going to the NT05 you will lose some of the traction you are used to with the 555RII's

I would suggest in your case you stay with your 555RII's.

So,
How does the NT05 compare to the NT01. My Z isn't my daily driver and I Autocross a few times a month. Since I don't drive it on the street that much and never drive it in the rain if I can avoid it, for me the NT01 would be a better bet. Does anyone have some data on the NT01's.

Only data I can offer is the NT01 is a track tire ONLY type tire with a 100 tread wear rating.
If the NT01's work for you and you are happy with how they perform you would be disspaointed in the NT05 with it's harder compound 200 tread wear rating. The only benefit the NT05 will bring YOU over your NT01 is they would be the better tire if you got caught in the rain. As you mentioned, that is not of importance..

I'd stick with what ya got...

Thats the same setup I'm looking at.

Thank you for all the responses. I'm getting the data I want, so guys feel free to hijack away and chat it up about the different tires.

Just an FYI: NONE of the Nitto's mentioned in this thread (NT05, NT01 or NT555RII's) will allow ANYONE to get 60,000miles out of them. Someone mentioned they got 60,000 mile sout of their Nitto's. They didn't mention whhich tire, but I will tell you it was none of the 3 mentioned here....
