I have asked questions about replacing the cluster lights with blue LEDs. Everyone has told me that it wont work with LEDs because the guages are illuminated by the 2 glow tubes on either side, yet no one can tell me why there are bulbs behind the cluster. the glow tubes cause the needles and all the red lines to glow. i put a black light up to the guages and the only the needles and red lines glow. if you notice the end of the speedo needle is much dimmer than the small guages to the right. has any one else noticed this?

The bulbs behind the cluster are for the warning lights, airbag, etc.
You can certainly swap the warning icon bulbs for White LEDs if you'd like, The icons have colored film in the faceplates so I would recommend White LEDs...
The faceplates themselves... tick marks, numbers and C5 logo are lit by the UV tubes up front. I used a handheld UV light to test out a lense I had tinted Red;
The handheld was considerably weaker the stock UV tubes...
i shined a flash light with UV leds on my guages and the only thing that glowes is the needles and the red lines. there are light bulbs behind the warning lights but there are also about 7 or 8 reg light bulbs behind the the cluster and they are spaced out as if they were to spread the light evenly.
On my dash, directly behind the C5 logo, it apears burnt as if the bulb has been on too long. Does anyone know what warning light was or is behind the logo? I bought it used and it was that way. I thought it was just from having the lights on too long but according to the prior post, it may have been a warning light that no longer works?
