LS1 water pump replacement
I have a 2002 LS1. I have the FSM. What kind of time I looking at changing out the water pump? Any thing to watch out for? Im a skilled wrench. Thanks.

On another site there was an excellent write up with pictures on a water pump replacement by Junkman. It looks pertty stright forward and it should not be along drawn out process.

Maybe an hour
I just remove AC and had to pull my water pump
It's pretty much a slam dunk from atop a ladder
Refill the system with Dex CooL & Distilled Water and don't forget to fully purge the system of air, else you'll see higher operating temps

water pump
Looks like a weep hole leak. I tested up to 14 lbs. and its barely dripping
Motor has 81K

I just replaced one in my 97 C5 last week. It was pretty simple. Remove the drive belt, unhook a few water hoses, remove the air intake, 6 bolts and your ready to pull it out and start to reinstall. Torque on the bolts is 22lbs. First pass run them in to 11lbs then on the second pass up to 22lbs. I wasn't in a hurry and it took me about 2 hrs.
