Default Are all x pipes created equal

Looks like the Borla x pipe is the least expensive stainless one out there. Typically around $240. Corsa and others around $330 or so. In the pics, the Borla x looks like a small slit at the x point. Is the Borla x as good as the others?

From what I've read, there are no significant functional differences between aftermarket x pipes. I would go for the best looking one at the cheapest price. Any one you buy will definitely be an improvement over the OEM h-pipe. I personally like the Magnaflow version. But I think I am slightly biased.

go with the one that has the smoothest lines or transition between each pipe.

Depending on where you mount the x-pipe will have slight power / tq differences

Mount the x-pipe right behind the cats, and a bit more HP, mount the x-pipe right before the over axle pipes( a bit farther back) more low end tq

Good luck

Default Magnaflow

It would appear to be a much larger flow area at the X.

Get a true X-Pipe, like the one above,

Others are just two merged pipes with a open area between them and then welded together...

Peace
Chip

Chip those are the ones you want.

The ones with just the two pipes merged together and welded. Those the X-pipes that produce more power.

PPl can do what they want, it is only a few pones or foot lbs anyway

I agree with you for bigger HP builds where back pressure and savaging is an issue for max power, guess I should have clairified...

Bolt on cars are pretty much just for sound...which is better on a true x

Peace
Chip

I ran a Bassani X-pipe on my '00 - very well made piece and did a great job of eliminating my popping and resonance.

short answer, they're all equal. buy the cheapest one. You're not going to find one that gives you a 500hp gain.

I have the borla straight pipes (catback) and xpipe. With only that on a stock 02 C5 I put down 310rwhp and 315rwtq SAE corrected on a Mustang Dyno. Those are very conservative numbers.

The true merged X pipes will do a better job of balancing exhaust pulses between banks giving a moderate scavenging effect lower RPMs. Bassinni (sp), WCC and Magniflow all make this version. I"m running the WCC version on my car.

Would it depend on if you've got headers or plan on getting them? I've got kooks on my car, and their custom x-pipe looks like the only thing that will fit on the bottom....

if not, let me know, cuz I really don't want to bust $850 on the catted-x pipe unless I have to.
