I did with my black C4 DD and IMO it beat up the finish quite a bit. Lesson learned -- with the C5 DD no way. I'll just live with dirty if it's too cold to wash for a month or so...
I've used them many times with the vette... never had any issues other than a couple places tell me that my car wouldn't clear... so I just went to places that I've used previously that I know had no issues with clearance. I like to defy the corvette commandments. I've driven the car in the rain and snow as well *gasp*. Turns out, it actually IS a car.
You're going to hell for that! haha..I kid.
How did it perform in the snow anyway?
The only automatic car-wash for me is giving $5 to the extremely clean neighbor kid with OCD...

It was ok in the snow, I just went very very slow, but that was also before I moved to the new kumho tires which aren't all season, so now I have a new car for a daily driver, and the vette will enjoy the winter from the garage
I actually did more damage to my paint when washing the car myself than from any automatic car wash. Using the high pressure hose at a self service place, I chipped a piece of paint off of my license surround plate
Never with any cars or trucks, just not worth the agony and they don't get anything clean anyway. These vettes are so small its just too easy, you need to dry your car off anyway.
I use the touch free to keep the vert top clean. The worst thing for vert tops is dust, so a quick run through keeps them clean. Actually, while I don't think touch free is the best way to wash a car, I sure don't see the harm.

Yes I use a touch free one not far from home after road trips when I get home late at night and no time to do a handwash. Works great and the under carriage pressure wash does a nice job with cleaning the underside of the car.
As for the brush or rag ones NEVER, not even with our daily drivers.
Yeah I know many consider this some kind of sin........but I use one often on all my cars. With the rain and mess we have in Oregon it is either: use an automatic car wash, don't drive your car, wash by hand in freezing temps, or drive a dirty car.
I drive my Vette whenever I can in all kinds of weather......so yes, I do use an automatic car wash in the fall and winter........
