Default Amsoil Change

Changed my trans and diff this weekend; went with Amsoil Torque Drive and Severe Gear. Trans fluid was very dirty, stiff shifting when cold, some sync grind into 4th; never would have believed it, all is gone. I may just be wanting it to but shifting is smooth, seems greased------------very pleased. Severe Gear did not require additive for limited slip, did tight figure 8 10 times just as a precaution. Diff not as dirty but due a change, all was quiet, just time to swap.

Very pleased so far--would not have believed the difference--Well done Amsoil!

PS: Their gear oil pump is excellent, down tube for any size container they sell--I used the gallon and quart--Easy, cheesy............

Boy these cars are fun!!!

How many miles on the car and how many miles were on the fluid? I'm not buying the difference in feel. I recently changed my diff and trans to Amsoil and noticed 0 change in any sort of feel. Be wary of the placebo effect.

As I said, I probably wanted it to be that way..................................I believe IT IS 100% placebo, totally spin and feel good...............but hey, that's a Corvette! Absolutely no practical or objective application, just visceral stimulation, fun, cheap thrills, something to get you through the day.

Sort of like changing the oil and the car is now faster

On my last two Z's I saw a difference w/ Amsoil Torque Drive in the trans. Used to use the ATF. Anticipating the placebo I took note of my issues and did the change the same day and retested. no change in the rear but the trans was smoother and no hangups. Also quieter when cold. Some cars have no real issues so an improvement can't happen. One thing I did take note of... I feel better that it in there!!! LOL Good stuff!

Probably just changing the transmission fluid, no matter what brand you use, will improve the shifting if it has never been changed.
I changed mine at 30,000 miles and stayed with the GM manual transmission fluid, and did notice an improvement.

I have had friends that changed to Royal Purple, and the shifting actually deteriorated over time. They went back to the GM fluid and shifting improved. With manual transmission fluid, viscosity is critical, and slicker is not necessarily better. You need the right combination to get syncros, etc. to work.

I agree. I have friends also w/ alot of complaints regarding RP. When I bought my recent Z16 the owner told my he had RP in the rear for about 5000 mls. That week I dropped the fluids and the RP was horrible looking and came out like water. It wasn't even hot. Amsoil sever gear EP for me, and Torque drive was recommended for our trannies by Subdriver our Amsoil guru and vendor.
