So I'm reading my 2K owners manual and come across this pertaining to fuse usage: Minifuse # 1 Rear Fog Lamp and Micro Relay #37 Rear Fog Lamp both located in the Engine Compartment Fuse Block. Where is this Rear Fog Lamp?
That must be for the Euro model. There's a thread on here somewhere with pic's of various Euro tail lights which includes shots of some in Europe that have these rear fogs.
Rear Fog Lamps are mandatory in Europe but they're not fitted to US spec cars. Rear fog lights provide high intensity lights for foggy conditions. Typically its about a 21W bulb. They can be really good on a "pea souper" day but more often than not they're misused. I can't tell you how many times I'm blinded by a numpty who has his rear "headlights" shining out when the visibility is 10k+
On the export version they're mounted into the rear bumper. Fugly if you ask me and there must have been a prettier way to do it.
I mounted an E compliant lamp to get me through the safety check when I got home.
I now have LEDs in the rear vents.
I'm toying with the idea of a light behind the Corvette exhaust plate with cutouts for the light. That way I'm compliant but it would look good. This is a crude photochop but you get the idea

Good answer as usual, Dave.....but I'll bite - what is a numpty? It sounds like a word that I could use without getting in trouble with the PC Police (because no one will know what it is!)

Sorry Randy; divided by a common language
Its someone who is:
Two sandwiches short of a picnic
Firing on 3 cylinders
Depriving a village of an idiot
Hitting rock bottom and continuing to dig
And the good news....... it's useable in polite company
years ago i had a porsche 911 targa that was equipped with a rear fog lamp (it was a reasonably high intensity red lamp mounted below the rear bumper). it really was a pretty decent safety item. in south florida during the "rainy" season (which seems to correspond to the "hurricane" season) from 6/1 to 12/1 we get some pretty severe rain storms. unfortunately, there are too many people down here who just don't understand that their 4 way flashers aren't the method of choice legally to provide for their visibility. while it may be legal in some states to be moving with 4 ways on, here it isn't legal and it can cause some problems with those cars that have in fact stopped by the side of the road to wait out the downpour as people perceive them as moving. every year before the start of the "season", the papers are full of articles that it isn't legal to use 4 ways while moving, but that doesn't stop people from doing it. the rear "fog" lamp in my opinion, would be a very acceptable solution to the problem.
