Default 2002 mn6 cags

CAGS forces you to shift your manual transmission Corvette from first to fourth under light acceleration.

but my CAGS Light will occasionally come on and I CAN shift from 1st to 2nd easily, and always ! not forced into 4th.

Is that right ?

Car ia all stock and low miles ... no Mods
No Problems !

Are you the original owner?

If not, I'm guessing a prior owner installed a skip shift eliminator.

Mine does that sometimes also, I don't usually go to fourth I normally go to third instead.

This is how they act w/CAGS bypass installed.
That's one mod done!

The CAGS eliminator is cheap and easy to install,,and I would guess that the vast majority of M6 drivers have done it!! I'd wager yours had it before you bought it. The 1 to 4 signal still lights even though the actual solenoid signal from computer is blocked!!Enjoy the benefits,,it is much more pleasurable to drive without CAGS!!!

When you have your first custom tune done,,,,have the tuner take that message out. You have a car with the cags bypass installed. It is on the passenger side under the car about under the passenger seat.
One of the dumbest things GM ever did,,,,,to save fuel,,,,they say,,,,on a car that beats 30mpg on the highway,,,,go figure,,,,oh,,,,,libs run the EPA!

I believe GM did that to avoid the gas guzzler tax.

That would be my guess too. Easy to check - just get the car in the air, look up at the driver's side of the tranny and see if the CAGS eliminator has been installed.
