I am fairly new to owning a 2000 Vette (about 2 months). The orig owner hit the curb and damaged the front wheel. The wheel has about 6 inches of damage. Can this be repaired or do I have to replace the entire wheel ? Otherwise the car is in excellent shape. Tks for your help.
There are wheel shops around that can repair them if the damage is too much for you to fix or you can't walk down the street without tripping over stock wheels.
I have some road rash on both my 2000 polished thin spoke front wheels and will probably try to repair them before buying new. Search this forum and found these postings which have encouraged me to try before replacing.

There are a number of wheel repair vendors out there that can make the wheel look like new. Not sure what it costs though. For something like an OEM stock wheel, you can find a used set in mint condition for not much cash.
Try checking with a local shop that deals with custom wheels - they most likely have a source for wheel repairs.
Don't mean to throw cold water on this idea of polishing out the rims, but be certain they aren't bent as well. Our rims are relatively soft and will bend easily. If bent even a little it will result in run-out and will show up as excessive tire wear and less-than-ideal handling.
