Our first Vette

We drove the car 900 miles home and though the car has some issues that need taken care off. It is a low mileage car and the title history backs this.
It has a wondering oil pressure that could be the instrument cluster or oil pressure switch (hopefully). Since we had such a long drive we had the Chevy dealer in Newberry SC confirm the oil pressure was good with a mechanical gauge on a oil filter sandwich adapter. While the car was up on the lift we got a good look underneath and it is very clean and consistent with the 8272 miles it had on the clock. The underneath was dry and clean with no signs of leaks, damage or road wear. Just a little surface aluminum surface corrosion but all the factory numbered parts where still with their original paint and stickers in good shape.
Interior is nice and the car tracks like its on a rail! The injectors must have been dirty from sitting a lot, the first thankful we got ~25.9 mpg, and ~27-28 + the next. The power and torque of the little LS6 is awsome!!
The computer had factory tune so it was not optimized for the Blackwing Air intake, Corsa exhaust and 160 F thermostat. I am working on the tune with HP Tuners now.
The front tires have sidewall cracks and the car has a 10 ft yellow paint job (looks ok at 10 ft).

The car aparently did not have major surgery and it was fixed OK except for the cheap paint job.

The minuses will be rectified and we have our first Vette at an affordable price and seems to be running better each time we use it!

We ordered the steering column bypass, and the oil switch relocation kit.
What are the better street tires for all around use stick with Good Years or…..?
Is the 1-4 shift bypass kit a good idea?

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Enjoy!
Have your tuner do the 1-4 bypass when your having that done.

Yes the road trip was fun and very helpful in getting acquainted with the new addition.
The best part was seeing the wife get reassured after a not so good a beginning.

She has been sick for over a month but the more miles we put on the more she smiled!!

After a while she says “Yes this car is pretty nice and handles really well!” The next day she drove for a little while and her grin was as big as mine!!

We have done drag racing with a nostalgia gasser Anglia, and we are still going to drag race in nostalgia but want to try other motor sports venues as well.

I would like to try the Maxxton mile in a year or two, and we want to try some road rallies as well.

I would like to drag race the Vette some without turning it into another drag car, more like an all around multifaceted fun car!

I had a 71 Hemi Challenger, and 70 ½ 396 375 hp SS Camaro that where nice but not this fun!
If I keep my mods down near where we are now except for drag radials or slicks should the rear end and trans hold up?
Thanks for tips on the trans and rear end fluid, I had thought of that and being an Amsoil user and dealer we’ll cover that portion.
Actually the previous owner had Amsoil Series 2000 in the crankcase already!
The Corvette Yellow is a nice color but its not the factory paint (red) and originality not being a factor I think black on Vettes says “Bad to the Bone!!”
Congratulations on your first 02 vette. The CLB is a must do fix.Lots of pictures on how to do it. Kit is $49.95. V. Jack has good advice about GY tires. The 1-4 shift light can be eliminated & also the the fuel shut off can be changed from 2 mph to 255 mph at the time of tune. Best to have the CLB installed prior to the tune.
