So my fiance wants to get me an in dash GPS/Nav for x-mas and I was curious about a couple of things. I don't have the money to get a double din bezel and what not so I told her to only look at the motorized ones that open up. She found a great deal on one on amazon and I was wondering if any of you electronic guys could check it out for me and let me know if it would fit, needs extra accessories to make it work with my stock bose stereo, etc.
According to Crutchfield.com it fits. It says the 8190 fits as well. Click on this link and you can see the details. It also shows the Metra interface if you're using the factory Bose speakers. The model number of the Metra interface is XSVI-2004.
You can also click on "car audio, video and gps" then "outfit my car" and find out what else fits your 2001.
You should also post in the Audio/Electronics section here (link below). Lots of very knowledgeable folks there that will lead you down the right path. The guys at Double D Mds, C5 BearsFan (Dennis) and pentavolvo (Greg), have been awesome helping me to set up a system that is tailored exactly for my requirements. Give 'em a shout.
honestly dual's products are very low quality. what happens frequently with single din flip open head units is that after awhile the motorized parts will degrade and break down. it is truly better to just save up your money and buy a double din.

Also with flip up motorized unit there is likelihood it will block your central dash air vent when engaged.
I can get the Dual products as well for you. I have asked my supplier on the quality of them and he said they are not very good. Most of the flip outs tend to break within a year of getting them if you use them alot. Problem with them is, the screens are not very well built as far as the hinges go supporting them. With the touching of the screen it causes them to get loose and break.
send me a message on your price range on what your looking to do and I will put something together for you. I just put an package deal together for another forum member on a DD setup with a Kenwood dnx514 for 699.99 with harness, brackets, antenna adpater and sending me the bezel for modificaiton. There is no NAV on the DNX514 but you can add it on as an option down the road when time and funds will allow this for you.
There are alot of options for you if i get an idea of what you want to spend.
