I guess if the water spots are calcium deposits the vinegar might work...not sure if it will damage the paint/finish though. Indy
A 50/50 solution of white vinegar won't harm the base coat/clear coat paint. I've used even stronger solutions w/o damage. It's what professional shops use.
FYI, denatured alcohol won't harm paint if removing tar, road paint, etc.
Bon Ami powder mixed into a paste and lightly buffed. GM used to sell it under a GM part number for the same use. Bon Ami's claim is not to scratch.. with normal use. Guess someone abnormally used it so GM doesn't sell it anymore.

Yep, I've also heard that Bon Ami is good and non scratching...........again, common sense has to factor in.
Go with the 50/50 vinegar water solution - I've used it before on spotting and it works well. I'm a little more conservative and use 40 vinegar/60 water and it seems to get the job done just as well. I've used it on the clearcoat of my other cars with no problems. It's GREAT for removing water spotting.
