Mentioning that the stock tire replacements are about 2 grand should help you knock the price down a little bit. Good luck.

Default Purchase Update

Hey All: Went to see & drive the C5--it is AWESOME!! I could not find a scratch (except on the front air dam--I think that's what it's called--the black trim under the nose).. Glass, weather stripping, carpets, etc. all perfect...

Leather & rest of interior immaculate.. I checked the RPO list in the glovebox--verified all the above PLUS Polished Alloys and the 3.15 axle...

All fluids checked good or better than good.. He had all service records... Tires had lots of tread--but I think I'll listen to your advice and get new ones (age factor)...

Everything worked great--the auto clim control, HUD, Bose Stereo, trannie, brakes (no shimmy, pulling, or grinding), headlights, fog lights, DIC,, you name it--A-OK!!

He bought it Brand New on a "whim"... It was on the Dealer's Showroom Floor... He said he spent more time polishing it than drving it ...

CarFax verified ownership and mileage trail...

Gave him a deposit... Hoping to close the deal tomorrow... Will update when appropriate.. Thanks again!!!

Default Done Deal!!

I am now the proud owner of a 2004 Corvette... This C5 turned out to be all that I hoped for--and more!!

I just got it home (about 50 mile drive)--it checked out perfectly!

Interesting tidbit: I got on the Freeway and had driven about 10 minutes... Suddenly--a "crotch rocket" motorcycle came up on my rear--and I was going 80! The m/c swung around to my right and slowed to my speed next to my passenger door...

I was then very surprised by ther rider's next action--the biker lifted his visor, smiled at me, and gave me the signal.. He then continued ahead...

I have NEVER had that happen to me in any other car I've owned (& I have had many nice ones!)...

What a GREAT way to start my relationship with the C5!!

Final note: I have the window-sticker: it was $ 48,275 new with the following options: High Polish Alum Wheels, Preferred Equip Group (twilight sentinel, electrochromic mirrors, HUD, Pwr telescope wheel/tilt wheel, Premium Color (Magnetic Red II), and 3.15 Axle...

I ended up paying the $22k asking price--but this car is CLEAN!!

Will post pic's after I detail it (within a few days)..

Thanks again for all the help--and I look forward to "talking" again soon!

Default Lovin' My C5 Coupe!!

Thanks again to all who helped me in the buying process... I uploaded a few pic's (very basic) but am awaiting "image approval" to post them ...

This Forum is the greatest! Threads have already helped me in replacement battery information and the Cargo Net installation (boy--I sure couldn't figure that one out until I found the thread--mucho gracias!!)

I'll get those pic's up when allowed to...

If you are happy with the Vette and with what you paid that's all that matters.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Vette ownership.
Save the wave and that was the 1st thumbs up of many!

First of all Congrats,
Seems like you got a good deal, I paid 16,000 for a 99 with 65000 miles. But it was pewter and had a corsa touring exhaust 6 speed, great condition exterior wise always garaged. 500 miles later. New tires, new rims, new front brakes and rotors, new suspension (bilstein), alignment and labor has me up to 20,000. I would have paid 22,000 for a car 5 years newer and half the mileage of what I got in a 20,000 99 vette of mine. Hope you don't have to run into major issues. Just keep these things maintained well!

Thanks! Your Vette sounds really nice .... Yeah--gonna really take care of my new C5--and I'm sure it will take care of me!!

(& most of the 04's around here were selling for $ 23-24k with a lot more miles)...

I took it on a quick o'niter with my wife--it is the FIRST CAR that ever made her smile--especially under full acceleration!!

Awesome!!! Congratulations on the new Vette and welcome to the forum.

It sounds like you did a lot of homework before the buy, kudos. Read the sticky threads in C5 General to learn a bunch of stuff you'll want to know about these fabulous cars. Don't hesitate to ask questions, we were all newbies once.

Congrats again and don't forget to wave!
