Default Headlights making noise when I close them. help

So when ever I turn off my my headlights the motor doesn't stop when the light is fully down. It keeps running and making a grinding noise. I'm thinking there is some stop switch that is broken or missing. Any suggestions or diagnosis?

its the plastic gear in the motor. its stripping out. they make a metal gear replacement for under $50 bucks i think and that should fix you right up

I ordered a Brass gear about a month ago from Rodney Dickman.
Great service, Great Product and fast shipping.
Every thing you need is in the Kit to fix the headlight gear.
$50.95 shipped

Take a look at this sticky. Run down to headlight gears and it'll tell you all you need. Loads of other cool info in there too

I replaced mine twice with the plastic / vinyl gear they both broke within a few months. Dont waste your money. Buy the brass gear.

I agree I'm on my 4th plastic gear already, next time I'm
going for the bronze! It's also a pita to put in...
