They came with the car and I'd like to remove them. I tried popping the rivots off from the outside but that didn't work. Do I have to go throught the trunk and access panels? I didn't put them on so I have no idea how to remove them. Thanks as always for the help.
They are tail light louvers. Is there an outside screw that holds the tail light in? If so, the louvers are covering them and I can't seem to pop off the rivot. There is not a manufacturer listed on them.
Louvers normally attach using the same screws that hold the tail light lenses on. One screw at 3 o'clock and one at 9 o'clock. Should be able to remove the two screws, take the louvers off and rescrew the lense back on.
If it was that easy I would have done it. I know the tail lights screw in but there is not a screw exposed. I thought there was just a plastic cap covering the screw but when I tried to pry it off I messed up the louvers. I will take another look at when I get home.
Try removing the license plate surround and reaching up to the tail lights to see if you can feel threads on the fastener. I could see rivets if the person has stripped the threads on the install of the louvers. Keep us posted. Bill

I'd bet there is a plastic cap covering the screws - the lights mount with screws from the factory and I know of no other method to keep them in place than that.
There was a plastic cap over the screws and it was impossible to remove. I ended up taking a knife and cutting two deep slots into the cap and then used a screwdriver to remove the screw, through the cap. Once the screw is off, the cap can then be removed. This destroys the cap but not the louvers.
