Anyone know a good way to get that smell out of the car. The previous owner put them in during the winter months, but I cant get it out of the car. Tried Fabreeze, air freshners, baking soda.
If its just the smell of them, then it will go away pretty quickly if you use the car (esp with the windows open), it'll only be a small amount of residue that you are trying to dissapate.
Could be that you may have missed one ? Possible that there is one rolling around under a seat or in the back? Because if that the case, its gonna take considerably longer (minths) before it degrades and becomes inert.
If you are sure all the large pieces/***** are gone, you may want to try a commercial rug cleaning machine. You can rent one at many hardware stores and the fluid they take does do an excellent job of neutralizing any oder in fabric.
You wouldnt have to soak the whole interior or anything. Just pull the mats, do them, and spray/vacuum what you can reach with the machine. Would take you about a half hour, and cost about $20 (here).
If I remember right, Eastwood or Grott's garage catalog had a solution for that problem. Are you sure they'll all gone? Cause they tend to melt slowly and there might some still in there. But I would think, if you took out the bucket seats, you could get something like 'New car Smell' in the bottle and wetten the underside of the carpet insulation, let it dry and put the seats back in?
If you have a car in a wooden or masonary garage, mice and or cats tend to go there, the moth ***** I have found will rid most anyplace of mice or cats, people as well !
Not too get off topic but theres a house down the street for sale, and if you walk by it you can smell the moth ***** from outside... maybe thats why no offers lol!
Try some Irish Spring on foil 2 or 3 bars. Spray some Lysol into the air return under the dash with the fan running to circulate the Lysol. If that doesn't work then try the carpet cleaner..... some zaino Z-10 on the seats dual purpose smells like new leather and good for the seats.

The Irish Spring works for me. Use it in both Vettes. Just one difference, I snap the bars into 3 or 4 pieces and put them in different locations in the car. Works like a charm for the last 8 years.
lot of the "old" detailers use to pour a bottle of vinegar into a bowl and let it sit in the vehicle for around 24 hrs. I know it will take the smell of vomit out!
The mice shower with it to cover up the smell of mothballs on their fur, cats sniff them out easier when they smell like mothballs. I thought everyone knew that...

Oh man....that is precious.
I would have never figured that the mice shower with the Irish Spring soap to get the moth ball smell off their fur!
