When you programmed the new one, you lost the programming for the old one. IF the old one is still good, you have to program both in the same session for both to work.
You see the ones for your car all the time. The 2000 and older are there much less. There are two on ebay now, one is $94 and the other is $112. Gene's price is $60 on the 2000 and $78 on the 97-99.

The 01 to 04 won't work on the older cars.
I agree, they are NOT on there much and when they are they are wayyyy too expensive.
Both of my Fobs will not hold the programming for over a few minutes. I program them and they work, but then 5 minutes later, no workie.
Thanks.
This is exactly what happened to my FOB's, and re-soldering them fixed my issue.
The picture that was posted: My FOB when I repaired it.
What happens is; Those points feed voltage from the battery in the FOB to the main chip. They may look like they are connected, but they have a slight crack in the connection. When you move the FOB, it can cause those points to open slightly, which effectively removes the voltage from the chip and makes the FOB 'forget.'
I could be mistaken, but I think that the car and the FOB have what is known as a 'rolling code' that changes with each lock/unlock cycle. When you pull the battery, it 'resets' the FOB... so you need to re-synchronize the FOB with the car. (The same holds true when you replace the car battery... the FOB needs to be resynchronized with the car.)
Use a soldering iron and hit those six points as shown in the picture, and you should be good to go.
No problem, it took three times in the same thread, but I guess it finally took. I have recommended you very often. No one can match your price. Maybe if I ever need another fob, I can get a discount.
Just ordered 1 for my 2000 FRC from GMpartshouse.com for $60. plus $9 shipping...I was bidding on a used 1 on EBay and my last bid was $45 with a $5 shipping charge....I still wasn't the highest bidder...I figured by the time the bidding finishes it will be around $50 plus shipping (bidding is still open as of this posting)...for another $14 I'll get a brand new 1 shipped to me.
To: Mark. I'm still having problems. BUT I didn't do the soldering. Just cleaned everything. There were NO CRACKs. I will post pictures in the other forum tomorrow.
